Coming to Amsterdam on the 15 with 13 yr old son

I'm coming to Amsterdam (from Canada) on the 15th of Feb. .My wife and 13 yr old son will be with me.I am looking fo suggestions as to where we should stay.Is it better to look on the net and book ahead or try to find somewhere when we arrive.Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.I want somewhere safe as we would like to sample some of nightlife there also(coffeeshops,music,etc.) and my son will be staying in the hotel or apt.

Feb. wont be bad for finding a room on the fly, however booking in advance is always a good idea for Amsterdam. I have found a very helpful hotel booking site at www.channels.nl They have specials all the time and reviews with location information on a map. Most everywhere is safe. Stay in the centrum, not by the airport.

 

Youre locking up a 13 year old kid in a hotelroom on his own, in a strange city while youre out partying? Great idea...

 

so im guessing you dont let your son party yet?
