Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins. This deals with the issue of globalization, or as he describes, government heads, banking interests, and multi-national corporation leaders which really are all the same people, moving between positions, holding their power, keeping it, massing their wealth, under the viels of 'free market', 'improving third world nations', IMF, World Bank loans, etc. he calls this a corpocracy. there is no conspiracy. The way to build empires today is not with war, but with economics. If you slag a country into your economic web, you can basically own them and all their resources from the inside, without having to go to war over this. I highly recommend it. I had no idea what was coming for me, but I saw him lecture this past winter on a whim, and bought the book immediately afterward. He was once on the inside of this, helping the corpocracy to scam latin america and indonesian countries. his conscious built on it, and he talks at length how he had been groomed and selected for his position, his strength and weaknesses used against him, until he had to get out. its a political book and its sharply worded but he takes a very non-political stance in it, only to call out politics, world banking, and global corps as charlatans. he also writes books on shamanism and wisdom garnered from indigenous people of south american amazon.
Does he mention Chile in the book, and if so,what does he say that they did that was different from the other Latin countries? " New buildings, new cars and new shopping centers provide ample evidence that, for the wealthy at least, Chile's new economic system is a resounding success. There's also evidence of a new middle class. Central planning and government-owned industries are out. Instead, it's privatization that's brought prosperity, and, as a result, virtually every developing country in the world, except North Korea and Cuba, has adopted at least some variation of Chile's free market economic model. Has Chile found the answer? Last month, the leaders of all 34 Western Hemisphere nations, except Cuba, met in Santiago to pay tribute to the Chilean model and to reaffirm their commitment to free trade and free markets throughout the hemisphere." http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/lati...chile_5-26.html " In Latin America only Chile has managed to cut extreme poverty by half." http://www.falkland-malvinas.com/Detalle.asp?NUM=6014
is this to posit in favor of a market based society, because chile's market is successful? what is 'extreme' poverty.. is that halfed so that there is now double 'regular' poverty? hehe, just a little skeptical about things at times
If this guy was about destroying Latin economies and others through so called free market reforms then how was Chile able to avoid these Hitmen and their taticts? Maybe the problems with these countries lie more with their leadership's internal economic policies more so than any economic hitmen? I wonder if this guy is just trying to make a buck off the "conspiracy market" like some of those New World Order experts did back in the 90's?
far far from. this is the very thing. the leadership is how you get to the country from the inside. he was sent through an american corporation that does 'consulting' and would basically make unrealistic projections about the power generation and resource revenues that would be yielded by creating an infrastructure that was 'modernized'. These inflated economic reports would then be used as the criteria for the world bank or IMF to give such a country a HUGE loan. most money would never go to that country, but would stay in US banks, transfered to engineering and logistics giants, who would do work in these countries to upgrade infrastructure which really only ended up helping the very rich, because most people did not have cars or electric appliances. When the 'projected' economic returns were not yielded, these countries would have to default on their loans, and thus would become pawns and at the mercy to give UN votes, open land to US military bases, and exploit resouces like crazy. It was this mans job to get the leadership of the country (who would benefit greatly at the expense of his people) to accept these terms. When leaders did not, like the leaders of ecudaor and panama, especially when panama was considering to have the japanese rebuild the panama canal, they were pressured and then often died, this is when 'jackals' were sent in. this guy is making no money from conspiracy market, i said he states flatly there is no conspiracy type stuff, lest maybe CIA assassinations of latin american leaders who do not agree with the US/corpocracy terms. he runs non-profits now called 'dreamchange'. look up his name, he is affiliated with positivity.
Which countries never recieved the IMF and WB loans? From What I've read the leaders of these countries especially in Africa, have built their own private fortunes off of WB & IMF loans. So countries have recieved these loans it just seems that the gov't leaders have used them to "develop" their Swiss bank accounts instead of their countries. Anyway,I think the main problem with many of these countries is that they need to first make internal economic reforms first, then they will be in a better position to not be so dependent on loans and economic aid so much. But again, does he mention Chile in the book?
