Surely I can't be the only conservative hippy on this board. Where are the other conservatives/ right wing extremists?
If you're a conservative/right-winger, you're not a hippy. Being a hippy is a mindset, of which right-wing is the conflicting ideology.
The definitions are already out there. I'm not in to redefining things which are already common knowledge just for the sake of a debate.
That leads up to a pretty terrible debate then if we can't define what's being debated on a debate forum. Gun ownership is "right wing" but as the threads have shown a lot of people here own guns. Many people here are of the small government minded type, which is "right wing" ect
There are universal issues which somebody who calls themselves a "conservative" will generally agree with most conservatives about. Of course, we are all individuals, but the idea that guns should be freely available is definitely a predominantly right-wing thing. The only thing guns can do is kill, injure or maim - they are instruments of violence, which the vast majority of hippies are fiercely opposed to. Small government minded types can be both conservative or liberal. I don't buy the whole "libertarian is the third way" idea. Although there are a few people I know who describe themselves as left-wing libertarians, the vast majority of libertarians I've met and spoken to are right wingers by nature, or anarchists. A conservative hippy is an oxymoron... and anyone who calls themselves a conservative hippy can forget the oxy.

Ditto to the triple C's Though being in Britain, his opinion on guns is probably not on par with ours. Ironically though people who have worked at shooting ranges have said European tourists are often some of their biggest customers, being able to pay and shoot the crap out of things apparently is a big kick.
The right wing extremists was meant as a joke (hence winking smiley). I really was just interested to see how many republicans and/or hippies that have conservative values are on this board.

I don't buy the Democrat / Big Gvmt thing one iota. I will take an Insurance man or a Doctor any day over a self-dealing politician with a horde of cronies to support by exacting me and other working people. My father was an Insurance man. an honorable human being. For me The Goverment is roadside stops and searches and windbag posturing lack of fiscal discipline and pandering to politically correct fads. Why a self described Hippy would buy into this racket can only mean that he is a doctrinaire Left Winger and not a Hippy. I live in New Jersey where the people have been run off the rails by self-dealling politicians and their media enablers.
