Contemplating Dreadlocks

Okay, so I just recently cut my hair, it was about halfway down my back and now its just barely below my shoulders. The thing is, now that I don't have my crazy attachment to my hair I'm really thinking about getting dreads. The only thing is I also kind of like my hair as it is, all curly and big. What do you guys think? Curly or dreaded?

 

hmmmm....i wouldn't get dreads as if your sick of them then you have to cut your hair really short...besides dreads are becoming a tad cliched

 

if your white dont get em, dreads on white people is tacky.

hey man im white and i got dreads! i know plenty of white peeps with dreads.... well if yer gonna dread yer head, DONT get it done profesionally.....to much trouble. just dont wash it for a couple months and keep it under a rasta cap, twist and tear apart. hope this helps! good luck. send me a pic if you decide to dread up! peace

 

oh yes, definatly do it if you're thinking about it. The only thing stopping me from getting some myself is the fact that I go to a really strict school and dreds and other "extreme hairstyles" are not allowed. I think I might just do one in the back somewhere, just to stick it to the man. Because let's face it, dreds are flippin awesome!

 

ah dude i too go to a school where "boys are not allowed extreme hair styles" i mean wtf? still...10 or so weeks to go!!!

 

ah man you're lucky! I still have the rest of this year and the next one before I'm out of that place! It's insane... we have the worst uniforms and a horrendous dress code on top of it. Sometimes, I really feel like i'm in a juvinille detention center.

Oh well, at least I get to dress and such however I want on the weekends and after school, right?

About dreads becoming cliche, I agree and honestly, thats the only thing thats keeping me from getting then, and I've got this lovely brown curly fro that I'm not sure I want to get rid of.

 

I helped make my friends dreads, and I think they are so beautiful! If you go through with it best of luck, it can be a bit trying in the beginning, so gorgeous though...

But normal hairs nice too, I'm pretty fond of mine Either ways good, do what your gut tells you.

Right . Its a bummer for you because you live in a country where most schools don't have uniforms and stuff....for me the uniform is normal its just the hair rule which is a bit odd (I have a friend whose hair is like a quarter of the way down his back and his school doesn't care) Sounds like your school is way harsh, BUT do you have marching?! I do...

Yay after school finishes we have 6th form college, which is uuber uuber liberal!!!

 

Because so many hippys have them...then again i suppose that arguement could be used against me for long hair...

My hair is stupid. But it gets really thick/coarse so I think I might dread it when it's long enough. Thick/coarse is good for dreads, right?
