my appearrance(long hair, faded jeans, really crappy sweater, bloodshot eyes) Me and a couple of other students got pull over by the cops today for going late to school,I wasn't really nervous, the cops started to do their old basic routine just asking questions to the others, once they got to me they told me to assume the possiton, they started to go through my pockets and backpack, then they arrested me and put me in the backseat....the cops then let the other students go free with out them being check...........after a while of just sitting in the car they handed me a ticket.......now that i think back on it i think that it was my appearrance that got me in trouble, the cops did not find anything illegal on me.I try fighting back verbally but they didn't listen Do you guys think i should show up to court???
that sounds really messed up...i to wanna know what the ticket was for. Doesnt sound like you were doing anything wrong
so truency then? did they acctually arrest you ( as in read you your rights, etc) or just ticket you? were the other kids you were with ticketed as well? I don't really know how you can fight a truency charge, but if you have enough evidence, you could possibly press charges against the cops, sound like they were pretty jerky.
haha exactly.. my brother is soon to be a cop and im sick of people making these bullshit stories up.. now im not saying there arent cops out there that are shit and do harrass people... but not kids who wear baggy clothes, try people who are of a different race.. Not all cops are horrible and im getting sick of people thinking they ALL are...makes me really nervous for my brother...if anyone did anything to him cause he was a cop trying to do his job, then well, i wont say what i would do.. Cops have a bad wrap cause some people think all cops are a certain way when they arent... Thats the same thing you kids bitch about.." oh, oh they sterotype me" but you all sterotype cops..
I agree that a lot of people do steryotype cops but a lot of them do do shit like that >< I've been stoppped a few times for just walking down the street
My dear friend Mystical if all the cops were cool like your brother things would a whole lot of difrence. BUT IS NOT. Now let me ask you this would your brother bust some one for position of Pot? .
I am not saying all cops are great, I am not saying that they all deserve a medal.. Trust me I know... But I am saying that there are some who are good cops that are out really trying to help people and not worry about petty crap like pot or who looks like what... There are cops out there that arent like that...small percetage, but yeah, there are some... Im just giving my opinion and people can like it or think im stupid.
i got pulled over more times in the small town i just moved from than i've ever gotten in my five-six years behind the wheel. i once got my car serviced a couple miles from my old apartment, and on my way home i got pulled over for having a tag light out. my neighbor drove past since i was a few feet from home, and was walking his dog when i made it back. he says to me, "ah, i thought that was you pulled over... watch out for the cops around here, they train 'em to hate the long hairs and the blacks." oh, and did i mention when i went to replace the tag light that was out, it was definitely working? so, i'll give you (original poster) the benefit of the doubt. i've definitely experienced the same attitude you described. it's not always about race. i could list so many examples of what i've seen and experienced, but that would just get too time consuming. but anyway, i'm also confused, because although you can get in trouble for truancy... why were you the only one given a ticket, and not the rest of your friends? were you driving or just a passenger? did they ask you any questions before searching you? but yeah, i'd say you should show up in court. funny thing is, i bet you're gonna have to miss school for your truancy court date, haha. i've thought about that, a lot. the problem is, though, that people don't get up in the morning and say, "hey, what makes me look like a stoner? maybe i'll wear this..." we often don't realize that people are interpreting our looks in such negative ways. most people wear the clothes they already have, and to change your whole look means investing in a new wardrobe that you don't find comfortable, and you've gotta change soo much about you. you'd have to change your clothes, your vehicle, your hair, your walk, your voice, even the way you'd coordinate "normal" clothes.. and then you're not your natural self. i don't consider myself to appear too over the top, and i like who i am. so, if you're happy and comfortable with yourself, don't change. besides, every now and then you'll have some really awesome encounters with people. middle aged women who say they love your style and wish they had the creativity and guts to pull it off. and i get a lot of positive reactions from the political bumper stickers on my car. it's nice and reassuring. don't let a couple bad apples ruin your world. unless, of course, you dress the way you do because you want the attention and you're trying to look like a stoner. because then it's deliberate and not natural and it's a different story. as much as i'm against changing your looks, i've also gotta admit that moving out of that small town was definitely relieving, and (knock on wood) i haven't gotten pulled over since.
