Is it possible to change the appearance of the start menu bar in windows xp. Like could i draw my own start button and replace the default pic so other than that ugly green one i could have my own custom one?

Yeah, you can. There are a couple of different programs out there. I use Window Blinds. You can download a program to make your own skins, but it's alot of work. I just download my own skins, seeing how there are thousands of skins out there. If you have a slow pc, I would reccomend any skins though.

One way is to not use EXPLORER as your shell, try something like http://www.blackbox.org to replace it...

To repalce the icons them selves a good tool is Registry Hacker (reghack) google it....you will have to redraw the bit maps in mega important files like explorer.exe ntoskrnl.sys gina.dll and others, so mka esure you dont mind blowing up j00r system before you begin.

Forget Winow Blinds, it uses far too much memory. It is possible to customize the graphics which are stored in explorer.exe. Download ResHack, it's the tool of choice
