all you sewing types will understand me when i say this,

what should i do with all these cut off threads. Like when i tack something and cut out the tacking thread or when i neated the loose threads from sewing ive got a HUGE pile of threads of a couple of inches long next to me, not long enough to re sew with. I feel bad thrwoing it all out, do you think some form or recycling takes things like this??

I roll them into balls and put a little non-toxic glue on them to make them stick together and after they dry i put them in cat nip for a day or two (so hey soak up the smell) and give them to my cat to play with...she eventually loses them so theres always a need for more...

You could glue them together and make a thread kitty... then you could make balls for it

hm, well, grasshopper, the answer is inside yourself.....

What do you think you should do with the threads?

ps, i have a basket of thread clippings and itty bitty fabric shavings that i have no idea of what to do with

..save up enough and you can roll a few together at a time and make a hook rug... of course, that would probably take tens of tousands, or hundreds of thousands.

In the mean time... you could always make some home-made paper with threads in it for decoration, that always looks pretty groovy.

The woman that runs Phunkey Monkey Threads uses her thread and fabric scraps to stuff her totally cute bears. :p You could make other stuffed animals with them.

Haha ~ I can't stand to throw stuff like that away (and it would be a *lot* of waste).

Using it for stuffing is not as soft as the store bought kind (although just thread would be softer than thread & fabric scraps)... so if you would like it softer, or just don't have that many scraps, you can always mix the threads & bought stuffing together.

I just checked out your site, redfraggle42 ~ and you do such beautiful stuff!! The details are just wonderful & must take forever!

I tried making a ren. style dress once... forgot to buy lining for the corset top, so when I got to that step it just got put aside. I need to finish it, if even just to use up all of that pricey crushed velvet!!

So make a cat and stuff it with the threads you have.
