Yo, so I have a couple ok a lot of extra pouinds to get rid of and I'm thinking dancing is a great way to do it, am I right? I love dancing when I'm alone, which my boy friend gets a kick out of and wishes I would dance for him.. but I don't quite feel sexy enough to pull it off. But back on topic, has anyone had any noticable benifits from dancing?
My dancing resembles a chicken having a seizure. But have you ever seen dancers on TV that didn't look like good? Go for it. What have you got to lose but a few pounds? x
yeh dancing definately helps but you gotta stick with it. I dance all the time. I've noticed more muscle in my stomach and my butt is getting tighter. I probably suck but its fun and a workout so do it up! I would never dance in front of a guy though I'll tell you that much haha
I have no idea why more people don't dance to lose weight.. Its so fun, releases endorphins, and gets you movin. I love dancing! Dancing and walking is my exercise and I stay in shape I thinks Belly dancing is good for you AND it makes you feel sexy. So it solves both of your problems!
Speaking as someone who was a dance instructor and took dance lessons for 20 years I can say that it really depends on how much extra weight you have and what type of dance you are doing. Anything cardio will help you lose weight. So if you're going to take up dance as a means to lose weight then make sure it's something that gets your heart rate going and you do it for at least half an hour. If you have more weight to lose you will notice more changes than if you just have 5ish pounds to lose. The reason why the dancers you see on tv are so tiny and toned isn't all because of dance. We have to make sure to eat real healthy and take care of ourselves. There is so much crap in the dance world about weight and a lot of pressure is put on you to be thin. I never lost any weight from dance because a lot of what we do doesn't keep the heart rate going for long. There is a lot of time where we are learning choreography, taking a slower class, etc. And i've seen plenty of overweight dancers simply because they don't take care of themselves. I stayed tiny by eating healthy and doing other exercise on top of my rigourous dance training. But, with all that said please please take up dancing. It's so much fun, and besides being good for your body it's good for the mind. It makes you so happy, and what a way to express yourself! Go out, have a good time, and dance it up! If you're keeping it up regularly and eating properly you will see results. Then train with weights, which burns more fat.

I don't dance. But if you do it enough, just like with any form of exercise, you'll definitely be able to enjoy the benefits. And what a better way to get committed to it than to choose something you already love? For me, it's skateboarding and it's definitely kept me in shape... and trust me, without it I would be a fatass right now. But anyways, it'll definitely help you knock a few pounds off here and there. Just do it frequently
