We are entering dark times in this world. We have already begun to enter these dark times, but things are going to become a lot darker, and it probably isn't as far away as you might think. Why do so few people see this, and why do so many people choose not to care? With the way people are spoonfed lies and half-truths by the corporate, mainstream, Murdoch media, it comes as no surprise to me that people are as blind and grossly uninformed as they are. It seems that most people in America would rather watch "Survivor" or "Outback Jack" than enlighten themselves to the corruption that surrounds them, and is threatening to take away their freedoms. Television and materialism, among other things, has everyone doped and complacent, and totally unwilling to think outside of the box, granted that box covers no more than what Michael Moore presents. We have the government, made up of criminals and crooks, telling us that al-Qaeda wants to attack us in the months leading up to elections. Right now, the US government is gauging for an attack to possibly coincide with war criminal George Bush's speech at the Republican National Convention on September 2nd (less than a month away). Basically, they are telling us we are definitely going to be attacked again (whether sooner or later), and to prepare ourselves. The government knows something we don't know, as did they in the months, if not years, leading up to the attacks on 9/11. Many people do not understand how the government benefits from these so-called "terrorist attacks," and they should. These events (and the threat of them) instill fear in people. The government wants us to be fearful because it will cause us to accept things that we would normally not accept. Do you think the "Patriot Act" would have been tolerated had we not been attacked in September of 2001? You can guarantee that if we are "attacked" again - whether by al-Qaeda or the terrorists within our own government - we will see something much worse than the Patriot Act enacted. We will probably see martial law enacted, essentially taking our constitution and ripping it to shreds. This is some scary shit, and it's a lot more real than it sounds. What I am talking about now could become a reality soon - very soon. This is what the government wants. The government wants to instill fear in us, which will make us more accepting of the full-on police state this country will soon be under. The government wants FULL CONTROL over the people. This is only the first step in the creation of the one-world government these fascist, blood-thirsty, power-hungry pigs are seeking. If you think I am spouting off a bunch of conspiracy theororist, nonsensical psychobabble, then educate yourselves. Read! The more prepared you are, the better off you will be when the shit hits the fan. Because if it doesn't happen soon, it will happen within the next five or ten years. People need to wake up and realize that things go much more beyond simply Republican and Democrat, and George Bush and John Kerry (these people are only figureheads for the globalists anyway). Both mainstream parties are equally dangerous and are ultimately seeking the same goal, whether you choose to believe that or not. BOTH parties are bound by the corporations which essentially own and control this nation. Corporations mean far more to the power-hungy elite, which is the US goverment, than the people do. To the government, we are nothing more than a bunch of dog turds. John Kerry and George Bush are two of the same, and both should be feared equally. Both are multi-millionaire, blue-blooded, power-hungry men who were part of the same secret, elite society, which is who put these idiots where they are right now. They also have an almost identical foreign policy. Why won't anyone besides a small minority of people admit that we don't have a choice in this country, and that our lives are in the hands of the man? Why are people such apathetic sheep when it comes to something so important? While there is probably not a whole lot you can do, being informed won't hurt.
At this point man, the only hope humanity has is a global spiritual awakening, or we will all end up as robots, prisoners of our own ignorance. If something doesn't happen soon, I have no doubt a 1984 world is very close, and from there on, a Brave New World. It sucks that so many people are so ignorant. But, remember in the end, at Brave New World, it is basically a utopia. People were happy. They just didn't have free will any longer. I've thought about it a lot, and sure, a world where people were intelligent enough to actually live peacefully is nice, but I doubt that it could ever happen, unless said spiritual awakening occurs. In the end, we will all either be enlightened, or pacified sheep.
I have to admit, Sept. 11 was probably the best thing ever that could have happened to G. Dubya. Before that his presidency was going no where. So what else can we do about it. The only options we have is to either move to a third world country or buy a bunch of guns and get ten acres up in montana somewhere. there is nothing we can do except vote for the guy who will do his best to keep us out of war. Hopefully Kerry is that guy
That's the exact reason why I'm entering the journalism field: to educate myself and the public of the hidden truths that really matter. And Pressed_Rat, I say nice job on that. You stated many important things that people all over this nation should know, but don't. I'm not sure if martial law would be enacted if we were once again "attacked" though. I think it would have to be a massive, nationwide attack for the people to put up with that. A vast majority of U.S. citizens are sheep, but I think they might wake up if martial law is ever enacted. Either way, it's still scary shit... scary, scary shit.
I just don't understand WHY people gotta bring up bush vs clinton vs kerry vs nader vs who-the-fuck-ever. We're probably gonna be screwed no matter WHO our president is, so it seems pretty childish to argue over who is/was/will be worse. I've been arguing the points you made here for a long time rat. It seems almost pointless though, because the people who already know agree with you, and everyone else will continue to make excuses and blame clinton, or terrorists, or tell you to leave the country. But I guess it's still worth the effort.
one simple reason why people don't educate themselves -- its far easier to be led, than it is to lead.
and thus, Huxley makes the point in Brave New World- people are too stupid to lead themselves, they must be lead. They can choose between either happiness or freedom, and the majority will choose happiness, even though both are possible at the same time, just too many people are too naturally ignornant to know how to be free and happy at the same time. Soon, we're going to find out if mankind can handle free will or not.
That was a well-written, well-thought out, intelligent, and,I must say, politely written post Pressed_Rat. I am very impressed. Even if some of the things raised my eyebrows a bit.LOL. This is the way of the world and mankind.and people wonder why I am cynical.
Sad thing if there is a terrorist act before the election, i believe Bush will win. People will be to afraid to change.
People wanna escape, they don't wanna deal with it. It's easier to watch Big Brother than actually contemplate the dire situation the world is in.
Rat, excellent post. Every single day I am struck by how horrifyingly blind people are to what is going on in this country, and around the world. The scariest part of it is how blatantly obvious the "conspiracy" is - the ruling elite have increased the hoarding of wealth, they have openly declared that they insist on spreading a 'way of life' around this planet that is ecologically unsound and spiritually devastating, they are admittedly working in laboratories to engineer diseases, our food, and 'nonlethal weaponry' that will undoubtably permit them to rule the world for the forseeable future. This is no big deal to most people - it's truly horrifying. For a long time, I believed we could stop this. I thought if we just organized - if the world spoke out clearly - if we protested... But after watching millions of people come together all over the planet against the Iraq war - a war that the majority of humanity was morally wrong, unlawful, and based on greed and powermongering - and watching that war happen ANYWAY, watching the world be silenced into complicity in it - it really crushed a lot of my hope for this planet. The world is NOT willing (or perhaps simply unable) to stand up to the ruling elite. I realize that now with an incredibly heavy heart. And so I am left having absolutely no idea whatsoever what to do. I do not believe that electing Kerry will matter. The events in motion here are not based on political ideology, but are instead the result of the desires of the ruling elite who are REALLY controlling things. How do we stop a group of unelected rulers with unlimited military power, the ability to bribe or terrorize the world into submission, and a thirst for MORE that can NEVER be quenched? They would see us all gasping for oxygen before they stop cutting the rainforest, and would rather see every Iraqi grandmother in her grave before they give up power over the world's oil reserves. How do we fight that? I'm at a loss.
truthfully, how do we fight that? not without great losses, as gandhi once described how he would resist Hitler.
This is the dilemma. We are certainly not going to beat them with violence, because they have more than cornered the market on it. We can't beat them with protesting, because they don't CARE what we think. We can't even beat them using democracy, because they have removed any actual chance of electing anyone who is not a member of the ruling elite to a major office in this country. We can't beat them with propaganda, because they control much of the media and have mastered the art of using America's selfishness and fear to manipulate the public. The rest of the world is either buying into or living in fear of this system, rather than standing up and opposing it. So what can we do? I continue to take action in my own life - shopping locally for food, refusing to shop at chains, returning to homeschooling my daughter, trying to have lower environmental impact, writing here, staying informed... Unfortunately, however, I am afraid that there are simply not enough of 'us' to make any real difference. It seems to me now that the road we are going down is one that leads to an ecologically devastated, spiritually dead, culturally stagnant, meaningless human existence. I say this not from pessimism, but realism - and because the ruling elite are creating such a world, and I see nothing occurring to even remotely slow the process, much less divert it.
I'm not afraid of these dark times. I've prepared myself for the worst that could happen. I think about it a lot. And, I don't think it's going to freak me out. But, I've yet to live it. And, you have my respect, Rat. Your posts are always so intelligent.
i think a lot of people are just not capable of facing the stress and fears. you live the best you can and the best you know how. you strive to keep a roof over your family's head and food in the fridge. for a lot of people, that's enough stress. not everyone is wired to cope with the bigger issues. it's the variation of human kind.
hehe. 'cept i think the popular following of hte statement, the meek shall inherit the earth is now "i wonder how long they'll be able to keep it?"
I'm afraid I'm cynical- after all, I've been hearing one variation or another of this particular doomsay for 30+ years. The pendulam will swing back.
