As opposed to what? Just a job that you can at least get a managerial position with higher pay. OR are you talking about a job that will lead you into a lifelong stable career?
this jobs going no where. I'm a fulltime clerk in a supermarket. Anyone else work anyone of these kinda jobs? just saying, its a drag and it feels like I cannot get out of there blah. I'm thinking of going back to college
Yep. I'm washing dishes right now. Before that it was working for a moving company and before that it was delivering pizza. I know what you're talking about
Duh, go back to college. Shit, you can't make a comfortable living these days working at a job like that.
a 4 yr degree doesn't guarantee shit.. depends on your field.. maybe try a 2 yr school, learn a trade..
I can tell you from experience that I went from working 3 dead end jobs at the same time at the age of 14 living on my own already, to now 23 yrs old in a large corporation with endless opportunities. I didn't finish high school and I made it this far... Anyone can if you put your mind to it. My first jobs were all under the table with looong hours and no overtime. It took me a long time to get here, once you get experience in a job field you will get better jobs.
i've been just tihnking about this for days, weeks months. Just dwelling on it man, but I feel like Ive figured out what want to do. I want to go back to college to finish up, though its such an uphill battle. I wanna become a teacher ! I feel like if I can change atleast one life for the better, then my work here is done.
and to whoever said it before you most definitely do not need a college education to be successful you can open your own business
But still, wheres the job security in that? If your business flops, then your fucked. But if you have a degree, atleast you have a good chance of getting a well paying job.
Big Cities are looking for teachers. If you want to teach in a Big City (inner-city school system) check out some of their web sites. They may help you go to school and allow you to be a teacher's assistant during the day. You may also get help with financial aid from the school system. Of course this was before the economy went south and everyone was looking for a job.
I'm thinking of bieng a teacher. The again of thought of doing almost everything known to man. But bieng a teacher and tripping out kids who are stoned should be fun
I thought I had a dead end job til I got promoted. I started working at a restaurant as a dishwasher about a year ago and about 3 months ago I got promoted to cook. I never knew what I wanted to do with my life up until now, and I realize that I want to go to college to get my culinary papers. So in my opinion all you need to do is get more work experience at different places so you can get a better picture of what you want to do. Trust me, school has never given me any direction in this path, I just had to find it on my own.
grocery clerks aint such a dead end...you could work your way up to a salaried manager or something...or even an owner I used to wash dishes at a restaurant and the minimum wage riceboy (that was his job...cooking up the fried rice) there saved up as much as he could and now the guy owns his own successful restaurant...and he still barely even knows english
There are no "store owners", it's all corp owned. I was supposed to become a dept manager, but with a nasty merger, that was nixed. I've always wanted to teach... US or world history.
