Happy New Year, everybody!! Hope and change are in the air! So what better way to kick off 2009 than to confirm what’s been buzzing in the rumor mill for some time: The Dead will be touring for the first time in more than four years, with nearly twenty shows spread across a month from mid-April through mid-May! Details will be announced here soon, so keep your eyes on dead.net! The lineup for this edition of The Dead will be the same one that rocked the house at Penn State last fall at the Obama benefit: The Core Four of Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, joined by guitar monster Warren Haynes and RatDog keyboard ace Jeff Chimenti (both veterans of the 2004 Dead "Wave That Flag" tour). The mood of the band for this Spring Fling is way up, so it’s sure to be a great tour! Dead.net will be your official hub for ALL news about the tour, including dates and ticket info... and perhaps even a few surprises along the way! So gas up the Tourmobile, get out that really wild tie-dye--you know, the one with the red spiral melting into the purple and green that’s in a heap of clothes in the back of your closet--and start getting into Show Shape! You know it’s gonna get stranger, so let’s get on with the show... http://www.dead.net http://www.jambase.com/Articles/16187/The-Dead-to-Tour-in-'09
I'd much rather see Steve Molitz on keys.. he kicks some serious ass.. but its all good.. im definitely hitting up at least AT LEAST one show.. ya think the inaugural ball will be the start of the tour
Awesome, I might be at the Greensboro show! If I do, April 09 is gonna be a kickass month, because I'm seeing Acid Mothers Temple on the 21st!
HOLY SHIT there playing about 15 minutes away on my fucking birthday theres no way I'm missing that show.
Dude wtf?! I didnt know they were here! Wow! Much rather see Boredoms if Im going Japped out on some acid, but amt is awesome too :cheers2:
oh my god, can you link me to a site with info on their tour dates and such? Fuck, that would make my birthday fuckin STELLAR
Seriously, that's what Im saying. I saw the Dead play in 04 with this lineup. Talk about a yawn, and I dont mean excessive yawning due to the pscilosybin/LSD/MDMA ingestion. I mean gayest concert I've ever been to. If it weren't for the drugs, I would have been pissed for wasting money on that overpriced bullshit of a show. Even watched a few die heard Dead heads walk out in the beginning of the first set. That's how gay this lineup is. And fuck Warren, I could fall down the stairs and smash my guitar and play better than that douche bag
Haha, I feel stupid now, I misinterpreted your PM. I don't know, I was just looking at the schedule for a venue near where I go to school, and they're scheduled to be there on April 21st, with Sonic Suicide Squad, whom I've never heard of.
fucking weak, the nearest they are playing to here is a fucking 2-3 day drive... in the summer i could prob pull that off but not during school. would it have killed them to add a couple southern shows? o well i still got plenty of good music with in a 5 hour ratius within the coming months, keller and yonder(twice) for sure, prob umphreys and disco biscuits, mayb springjam 5 but the dead would have been icing on the cake
haha no worries...i have six of their albums, yet had no idea they played shows...now I just gotta find a way to see em
