Well, for one thing, I don't believe in the death penalty, or any other pre-meditated killing. Revenge just causes more violence, which is what this is going to cause in Iraq. We'll be lucky if Iraq doesn't erupt into full-scale civil war, which is what the Iraqi government is afraid of. Wouldn't surprise me, either. The US should have minded it's own business and stayed out of Iraq in the first place. Too late now.

Did he receive a fair trial? Doubtful.
Is he guilty of crimes less significant than the huge majority of American Presidents? Most likely.
Will this help people besides Republicans? Doubtful.

Its merely a silly trick to get him to acknowledge that the court has jurisdiction over him
If he appeals he accepts their jurisdiction - if he does not appeal they grant mercy to show they are merciful its a very old trick but effective
THAT IS IF YOU BELIEVE ITS SADDAM
LOOK AT HIS PICTURES PRE WAR AND TELL ME - IS THAT THE SAME MAN

The American media is going absolutely crazy with this story. Just in time for the Sunday news talk shows and two days before Congressional elections. Someone on MSNBC claimed it was all just a coincidence. :) MSNBC is also running a documentary about Saddam and keeps breaking in with more news about the verdict.

I'm sure Bush will be out later claiming it was a 'victory for democracy' and a reason to vote republican.

For once I actually support the death penalty. Hanging is too easy. I think he should be transferred to an American jail and executed by lethal injection. But he should sit waiting on death row for a period of ten years.

The U.S. will probably keep him around for at least another year for a couple more trials. The trials are still seen by the White House as good PR for upcoming elections in the U.S. If things go totally chaotic in Iraq, it won't make any difference what happens to him. It doesn't make all that much difference now as far as U.S. potlics go since the situation has gotten so bad in Iraq anyway. It's a last ditch effort by the administration to try to scrape up some good news about Iraq.

As bad as hitler ??? HA HA HA HA - how do you make that out?
It was Britain and the USA told him to murder those people cuz they wanted the land for oil - the USA and UK sold him the WMD they were later looking for
the fact is - they didnt believe he had used so much killing so few
He failed to deliver at the right price or at all

When he supposedly committed the acts he's accused of he was actually working with the American's against Iran. To compare him to Hitler is a ploy used by the Bush republican's that I find reprehensible since the Bush family were Hitler supporters.

Time to wake up Molly and make educated decisions for yourself.

Estimated deaths caused in Halabja were 7,000. The death count during this war is over 600,000 Iraqis how will George Bush be viewed in twelve years by the Iraqi people?

I find it rather suspicious that the verdict should be handed down just two days before our own mid-term elections... handing incumbent repugnicans a nugget of illusion that the war for oil--- ahh I mean Iraqi freedumb-- is meeting with success. This tasty little tidbit is just too tailored to be fed to the non-thinking neo-con idiot who can be gulled into believing that staying the course is the right thing to do.

I'd feel more a traitor supporting Bush and his neo-con friends without question.

what really pisses me off about this saddam death penalty thing is that it cut short rev. ted haggard's 15 minutes of fame

Me too Molly! People should get their priorities straight. The church is the most important part of our life.
