    50's-rock & roll, country, blues
most important musician: Elvis Presley & Buddy Holly

start of rock and roll with elvis as the main rocker and buddy holly taking his place later it was a little country with blues on electric guitars but older audiences listened to country because rock & roll seemed satanic

60's-psycadelic rock, folk rock, southern rock
most important musician: John Lennon & Bob Dylan

the rise of many of the greatest guitarists ever and the beatles came to america and changed the world everybody started rebelling against the government and lots of kids looked up to Bob Dylan for his music

    70's-punk, heavy metal, funk, disco
    most important musician: jimmy paige

heavy metal appeared and scared many people like black sabbeth people dressed funky and went to skating rings and listened to disco hair metal arised with such bands like aerosmith and kiss later the youth began to see that peace wasent being done and thought we should be more aggressive about it changing kids into punks by the end of the decade

80's-new wave, hair metal, hip-hop, rap, thrash metal
    most important musician:eddie van halen

new wave became popular and set many trends for the decade kids were more rebelious and an important metal was made called thrash metal with such bands as metallica slayer and megadeth also hip-hop started and break dancing was cool and so was rapping about politics

    90's-grunge, pop, gangstah rap, trance
most important musician: Kurt Cobain & Maynard Keenan & tu-pac

grunge became very popular with its moany distorted sound because it spoke to alot of people until Kurt Cobain died also trance was popular for a while with its trippy techno sounds but soon died out rap became more aggressive and demanding more about sex drugs and killing people great bands emerged here also like tool also pop became big with backstreet boys and brittney spears

00's-screamo, allternative rock, new wave rap, r&b, nu metal, electronica, pop
    most important musician: eminem?

just more allternative rock bands like lincoln park became mainstream nu metal became cool like system of a down and slipknot the mainstream music wasent really rock instead it was more new wave rap and electronica screamo was also popularized somehow ^_^ it scares many people but others enjoy it many of the few modern punk kids were emo and hated life being punk was NOT cool also pop is still around and hasent changed from the 90's most rock isent very good mainstream this decade it lacks genious...

    10's-dubstep? whats next

    any additions or corrections?
and what do you think will happen this new decade?

I definitely don't think Gene Simmons was the most important musician of the 80's, especially given the fact Kiss ruled the 70's.

Your time scale seems to be a little off.
Metallica's thrash era was in the 80's.
kiss had their best work in the 70's.

And Ozzy Osbourne wasn't really a musician nor was he really important, considering Black Sabbath had many other successful vocalists. Tony Iommi was the key to the band.

For 60s I would probably list Dylan over Lennon, but that's just personal taste - both were pretty important.

you forgot the whole indie movement in the 2000s. all the music you listed from the 2000s sucked, but there have been a lot of good indie bands to come out in the last several years.

all i can say for the 2010s is: pop, pop-like house (for example the new black eyed peas song and deadmau5), dubstep maybe, alternative/indie bands (that's not going anywhere for a while), electronica (same as previous), rnb, and more

im not into rock anymore so idk wtf is goin on with it. i wouldnt call linkin park alternative though.

    Most important Musicians:
    60's: Jimi Hendrix
    70's: Jimmy Page
    80's: Eddie Van Halen
    90's: Kurt Cobain
    00's: Thom Yorke

Dubstep is already big and super trendy for a genre that's not really on the radio, also I've noticed some who swear by dubstep don't even really know what it is.

i think dubstep has a future in the next decade because it provides a new platform for rappers and hip-hop people to go to cuz arent those genres kinda in decline now?
Lil' Jon has appeared in numerous dnb songs as is and appeared at EDC with Afrojack. i think that may indicate some movement.

and there is a large segment of a radio station where i'm at that plays dubstep. so i've heard it on the radio.

also, britney spears has a dubstep song on her last album. that must indicate something too right? haha

yeah that dubstep is whack, but dont all genres get whack when they get popular? what will happen with dubstep is probably what happened to rap, and rock. still, it'll probably be known for being in this next decade.

    psshhhh
