i dont know about the exact date and time you posted, but i do think that most all living things will be dead by 2012.

i dont think "the world is going to end".... but life will, imo.

lol thats the shit from last x files episode. yes it is the end of mayan calender, a civilisation which mysterios dissapeared/got wiped out. there are 2 theories for this. 1- the mayans were very intellegent compared to the rest of the wolrd. they could build fascinating temples, make correct star maps and callendars, and theire callender ends on this day. this intelligence by many scieantitists and ppl is consider linked with aliens. so something like an allien attack or complete take over or something.
the second theory is that the mayan people just couldnt be bothered to carry on with more of the callender :lol:

You have two entirely different civilizations confused. Cortés was born about 500 years after the Mayans disapeared.

 

ACTUALLY the thing that is really intriguing about the Mayans and what makes them really strange and otherworldly, is that they were extremely intelligent (as someone else has said). They could master nearly everything, except they never developed the skill of making and harvesting food, one of the simplest things known.

Why would they be so smart and not be able to figure out to eat before they die?

I'm not sure what to believe for sure, everyone these days is focusing on stupid bullshit from the past (such as religion, what a waste of time.)

You can't wipe out life completely. Life has withstood worse than global warming and even a complete planet wide nuclear strike would only wipe out advanced life forms, not bacteria, which survived a complete global meltdown, and freezing.
Human race may go extinct than though.
Or more likely than not nothing will happen.

 

I'm not sure if that's the date you're talking about, although it doesn't sound about right. I believe I know what you're talking about; the comet that passes by and each time it's course is adjusted slightly due to the Earth's gravitation?
