I need some Ideas for decorating my room, it's not that big, but it's not really small either, any way, up till now I kind just had random stuff around, it was pretty much just a lot of junk in there, but I'm getting sick of it, so I cleaned it out, now it looks kind bare, like I need a theme or something, so I was thinking of doing, like a 60's/hippyish/psychedelic theme thing, so does any one have any ideas for decorating it (any thing would help, I'm going to redo the hole room), and does anyone have any sites that might either sell stuff, or have any ideas?

    any help would be appreciated....:)

My room is a hippy theme....

I just have a couple of posters of The Doors, Hendrix and other bands I like, and I have a load of tiedyed pieces of material draping from the roof which I like.

My own art, postcards and stuff on the wall, and loads of incense and candles.

The bongo, and guitars, cds, and books finish it off nicely :)

Im very partial to sky ceilings..painting the sky on your ceiling. Murals of any kind are beautiful, but are a little difficult.

I once covered my ceiling in tin foil, that was interesting:) I was inspired to do so, however letting yourself flow and create with paint is my favourite suggestion

Put up a dark side of the moon poster, hang macrame from stuff. Have books out and a place for someone else or you to chill on the floor. have incense to burn and hang a bead doorway.

ok, these are really girly suggestions (sorry :p) but you could probably adapt them to suit your tastes

one idea is to go for some atmospheric lighting - the lighting helps make a room I think. Have candles, drape some sort of cool, warm coloured material over the lampshades. It helps heaps. Or, like in my room at the moemnt, you could buy simple white or cream lights and paint the lampshades, it makes a really unique addition to your room.

Also, having heaps of cushions around the place is always fun - cushion covers are really easy to sew and you can add heaps of stuff to them. they are cheap too :)
ones made out of old t shirts with cool slogans, always look crack up, as ones made out of denim (espcially old jeans that have the back pockets still on them, or patches and stuff :)

have fun doing your room - iut's always good times I find :)

some kinda really funky lamps might help. Ikea store has some cool shit from time to time and usually reasonable. They are online too.

Before you do anything, if I were you, I'd slap on a layer of paint. It's the least expensive way to do a major change... I painted my computer room a funky shade of blue (similar to the blue in my signature) - even the ceiling is painted and it looks AWESOME if I do say so myself.

The t-shirt pillow thing is a very cool and fun idea, I've pillowed a few of my old shirts (and a couple from a thrift store) and bought some cheap, discontinued fring at a fabric store to make it groovier.

If you're a bit of a pack rat (like me!) buy a couple colourful shelves at somewhere inexpensive like IKEA - best in a contrasting colour (I found orange shelves for my blue room, it really brightens it up). Square shelves are ideal and fun, so you can put stuff like books inside the shelf, and plants, candles, statues, incense (or in my case, my husband's car models) on top.

Glow in the dark paint is an awesome feature, if you're good at free hand painting, to do some cool things on your ceiling or wall (you can even grab a fun stencil) or just get glow in the dark stars at the dollar store or something.

Anyway, this is some of the stuff I did to my computer room, and all together it cost less than $120 to do... hope that helped!

For my room i chose my two fave colors (orange and purple) and painted two walls bright orange and the other two deep purple. my room is the same...not too big and not too small either. i also put up posters of my fave bandz and my own art and got some plain bed covers and cushion covers and tie dyed them to match the walls. i think it looks rele good but thats my opinion!lolz
