Does anyone know any particular songs/artists who have really heavy rave music? I don't mean that poppy, bouncy stuff, I'm talking heavy trance-inducing rave music. I've been trying to prepare for a rave I'm gonna throw soon, but I'm tired of all my music, and want some new stuff.....

What kind of stuff do you have....it's hard to say. In terms of genre perhaps hard house or hard trance are what you're looking for. Deep house too.For a more psychedelic edge psi-trance.....I'm assuming that it's mainstream house music or garage you find poppy...

my recommendation is an album by Freaky Chakra called Lowdown Motivator. I bought it for the album cover at my local rave shop (can't believe we used to have specialist stores just for gearing up... haha) and it turned out to be a fantastical journey...

Oh, and Rabbit in the Moon... but if you aren't familiar with them already, you got a wealth of stuff to find! :)

well, as far as the current music I have, I have absolutely NO idea who the artists are, because rave music isn't really the main kind of music I listen to. I just have a bunch of burned cd's with that kind of music on it. But, I notice a really distinct difference in the styles of the techno/trance/rave music in the songs. I am really partial to the trippy/trance-inducing kind of music, but like you said, dislike the mainstream-sounding/garage types.

but, fulmah, thank you for that, I will most definitely give them a listening to.

Drum and Bass is heavy, and if thats not heavy enough for you search for gaba or breakcore :) And maybe some dubstep for after.

    My favorite Prodigy song personally.

OP: Check out dubstep, and also the user tracks at www.ihatebreakcore.com

check out Venetian Snares' album Detrimentalist as well, and I can second Cosmosis but I don't find them very dark or heavy. Then again I listened to almost nothing but metal for a few years so I have high standards when it comes to dark.

If you like the trippy kind of stuff try these guys

    GMS
    1200 Micrograms
Infected Mushroom (older stuff and newer stuff are 2 VERY diffrent sounds, see what you like better. Older is more straight electronic, newer has more of a rock sound)
    Battle of The Future Buddahs
    Electric Universe
    Twisted System
