Has anyone here ever heard of the Long Beach, CA based band DELTA NOVE? They are one of my favorite live bands to see of all time. The style of music I would say is world beat/funk, but they do tons of extended jamming. I would highly recommend that you check them out. They are on the http://www.archive.org/ live music archive, and their website is http://www.deltanoveband.com/ (however it is currently under construction, visit http://www.myspace.com/deltanoveband/ for current information). Right now I know they are playing every Wednesday in May in Long Beach, CA at Alex's Bar, they are playing GroovePhest 2010 in Lake Piru, CA, and they are also doing Humphrey’s on the Bay w/ the Black Crowes in San Diego, CA on May 21. They do tour nationwide, however. Here are some YouTube videos of them you may want to check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp6vipJA7bg/ <--"P.C.H" by Delta Nove in Huntington Beach, CA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoTIHEreS4o/ <--Delta Nove at the Moonlight Mountaintop Benefit in 2007 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9ZdAY-a48U/ <--Delta Nove doing a big drum solo with Michael Travis and Jason Hann of The String Cheese Incident, during the set break of an SCincident in 2006. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_f37feCKrA/ <--Delta Nove jam with Mark Ford
When I lived in Orange County, there was a band called Cubensis that played in Long Beach regularly. Are they still around? Around the same time frame (early 90s) there was a similar band in southern OC called Delilah Jones. Same question - are they still around?
