Hi y'all! i want to first say that i just love this forum. You are all so wonderful about sharing your creative energy. It is a real inspiration! So i'm delurking because i would love some feedback about my latest little creation. I made this patchwork apron top as a surprise for my little sister, who is going to Bonnaroo with her boyfriend in june. It was a labor of love... she is a new nurse and is working her butt off, and has gotten rid of all of her fun clothes for scrubs, and i just wanted her to have something fun and wonderful to make her feel like the little hippie princess i remember her to be. I added all kinds of fun special details and then after much ado, i get finished to discover that it is HUGE. And she's very tiny. So i'm auctioning it off on ebay rather than altering it because quite frankly, i'm bored with working on it. I'm going to start again with some new material and ideas. Anyway, what is the best size to make an apron top to make sure that it will fit the general population? Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Here's a picture as well as the link to the ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5387720935&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
That's really cute. I'm not sure about general sizes maybe med. or lrg. I like the bead detail at the bottom.
Thanks! I was just wondering if there were any guidelines as far as what measurements actually constitute a small, medium or large when making a top like this. Because of the adjustable back, i just figured it would fit anyone if i cut the pieces into sizes that looked generally right. I guess it will just take some experimentation...
i've never made an apron top, so i'm not sure of the size....i just wanted to tell you that i think the top is awsome. you did a really great job with it. love the patchie on the top portion!
why, thanks miss knitin.chick, that's very kind! I'm in the process of making a second, much tinier apron top that i'll share when i'm finished. For the top "bodice" part, i actually cut out some cardboard in the same size as the fabric, so hopefully if this one comes out better, i'll have a template for future ones.
