(although they also banned the monster mash, so lets not give it much credence on the basis of that.)
Is there anyone there who understands me? Anyone at all? The Chameleons' 1983 debut album, Script of the Bridge, is one of the best albums ever made... so atmospheric and melancholy. The guitars make this album what it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcEK6uTAezs"]The Chameleons - Monkeyland - YouTube

Back when my mom was single, raising us two girls, come home late drunk, and depressed, she used to play this loud in the middle of the night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZcA3kiaQb0"]ONE LESS BELL TO ANSWER / THE FIFTH DIMENSION - YouTube
I'm not a big fan of taylor swift or country music but this song is very sad!! It made me cry the first few times i heard it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J2OF1S3iSI"]Taylor Swift - Ronan (Lyrics) - YouTube
This song evokes an array of feeling from within me which overall is very difficult to explain, but is primarily of sadness. Or rather, permeated with sadness. It's an 'enlightened' song performed by an 'enlightened' man, and it sings of eternity being aware of us, looking back and sighing, for some reason or another. When I listen to this album I feel like I begin to deconstruct my body and mind and enter into some state with widely extended boundaries, remaining conscious of how self-centered it is to expand my own consciousness, yet how undeniably crucial it becomes to do so. As for sadness on a human level, this entire album is fairly bleak and depressing, Ceramic Hello's only release 'Absence of a Canary' from 1981. This album anticipates over 3 decades and counting worth of 'new sounds' and comparisons to many contemporary artists can be found within it, it was released mere months after John Foxx's 'Metamatic' and although it involves much of the New Romanticism fashionable at the time by association, it is something entirely different and truly had nothing with which to compare it. At times it sounds like what you might have expected had Kraftwerk and Africa Bambaataa gotten together in their prime, and yet it is melodic and rooted in hip-hop akin to what Black Moth Super Rainbow have been doing since the early 00's. To this day I've found nothing to come even close, and it remains an obscurity despite it's immense 'pop' appeal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDm2DWq2_F4"]Ceramic Hello - Gestures - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYgWFg_TFqo"]CERAMIC HELLO - Footsteps In The Fog (Mannequin Records) 1981 - YouTube
