desktop wallpaper help!

this dang new netbook is making me nuts! i don't know how to get it to let me change the desktop wallpaper. it's still just the standard blue boringness.. :frown: i've tried many times to change it and nothing happens..

am i missing a step?

 

Okay! What make? What OS are you using, XP, Vista, 7?

uum vista 7. i have never had an issue with changing the background on a computer before. in fact! i am one of those jerks that will change someone else's computers wallpaper to something shocking when they are not looking.. :devil:

maybe it's karma that i can't change this one at all..

Can't you just right click on the picture and click on "set as desktop background"? Or did you try saving the picture onto your computer first, then trying to change it ?

 

right click once on desk top.. See it says "personalize?"

 

yes.. thats what i did.. i was having a hard time trying to describe that..

and nothing happens.. it sits for a few seconds before it disappears.. all like it should.. but then nothing.. it's still a blue vista 7 standard wallpaper..

can you enter "personalize" into the run programs?

Do you have any gadgets either?

Will it not let you set as background as others have said, thats usually how i change mine. but do need the other program to stretch the page or tile it...

 

Just a hunch! I bet you have 'Windows 7 Starter Edition' as your OS.

This version is stripped right back, and you can't change the wallpaper.

i removed it.. but it left the goofy pic i chose for a background..

i'll leave it alone for now... it was really messing things up.. not just the wallpaper but all my other desktop settings.. everything is uber white now.. ugh! my eyes!!

 

Sorry, but at least we know it's just a 'Windows 7 Starter Edition' thing.

At the end of the day, it's only 'eye candy'.
