ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh man..I can die happy now.

I skipped a few meals so I could go buy Cripple Crow and I'm feeling so silly and happy now. I love it. It seems like he'd be so much fun to hang with. He is such a hippie

1.) Now that I Know --> very Nice Drake-ish but I love it.
2.) and 6.) the Spanish songs..I don't know Spanish but these are awesome too.

The whole thing..very polished; not like his older albums, but that's ok! It's great music..in a different way.

more people should be replying to this

i really am enjoying his new album. many of his songs sound a little more serious then his previous work like "cripple crow" and "now that i know", but then others like "i feel like a child" and "long hair child" sticks to his freaky lyrical style that i fell in love with. Im glad that he is expanding his sound as well, playing with "the hairy faries". Its definitly one of my favorite albums of the year [IMG]

I've never really listened to Devandra Banhart, but I'm dying to get to know his music. Can anyone suggest some of his best songs?

off his new album, his strongest songs would have to be "heard somebody say", "i feel just like a child", "long haired child", and "santa maria da feira". That should give you a good idea of what his new stuff sounds like.

of his earlier work with the rejoicing in the hands and nino rojo recording sessions, i would have to say his best songs are "the body breaks", "it's a sight to behold", "at the hop", "be kind", "this is the way", "little yellow spider", and "owl eyes". Most of these songs are more striped down then the songs off of cripple crow

then he has his very beginnings on oh me oh my...(its a very long title...). On this album, its only devendra banhart and his guitar with him overdubing himself. but unfortunatly, the recording quality is not very good. This is probably the freakiest devendra banhart ever gets, and is not the best place to get a feel for him. Its a good album though if you can get into it. some good songs off of there are "michigan state", "roots...", and "soon is good"

i think the best thing to do to experience devendra banhart, is to start with songs from his new album and work backwards. hope this helps you [IMG]

ye his musics really good marigold is good or a sight to be hold or at the hop or long haired child

i saw him at the start of August in Edinburgh in Scotland
i passed him outside the venue with his band but didnt go up and talk to them because they were already talking to people
it was such a good show and he said he thought Edinburgh was really beutifull and groovy so hopefully hell come back and do another show soon
he does this thing at all his shows where he invites someone to come on stage and do one of there own songs which is really nice of him

I was just recently introduced to Devendra Banhart, and I think his music is amazing. And it does remind me of Nick Drake. He came to Santa Cruz, CA last week and played a show with his Hairy Fairy band, in a small coffee/tea house. It was such an awesome show!
