    Hey people,

I've been having a look around the D&D website, looks pretty damn impressive so far. But what's the reality of living in a co-op? People's stories of experiences would be a great help to me in seeing how these homes really work. I'm feelin very optimistic, just want a bit more info really. Thanks! :)

Ring a place up and ask if there is anything you can help them with? Usually they offer to give you a bed for the night too, they may ask for £2-£3 towards food / bills for the night.

I've only stayed temporarily in a few.

I stayed in one in Birmingham where I just helped clean and build stuffs which was hard work but fun. I helped out but gained new skills too. Had a great vegan BBQ on the night and lots of beer, really enjoyed myself:p

I am also staying for an activity weekend at a Peace House at the beginning of October.

I think each co-op is different.

Some have strict codes, ie no alcohol or meat etc. Some are less strict. It depends on the idividuals and the ideals behind the co op.

Some are political or environmentally focussed. Some have just arisen through the 80's student movement.

Best way to find out more is to get involved yourself:)

I am sure there are many places that would appreiciate your help and give you advice in return:)

    Good Luck!

    Love Clairexxx
