I have recently discovered that there is an unmarked cemetery near where I live. The stones were moved but the bodies remain. The bodies were buried around 1870. I have a morbid curiosity and would like to see if the remains still exist.
Wouldnt, some things i beleave on not touching, but if u dont care u could, might be a bit disrespectful tho, u u like me to dig up ur grave or ur mums, just saying it would very much so piss me off,
If you call yourself an archaeologist, grave-robbing becomes a legitimized career move. I actually have worked as an archaeologist, though never on exhuming remains, and I have to say I have certain misgivings about doing so. Maybe I've just read too many horror stories or watched too many films...but something at the back of my brain whispers "Maybe better not..." A few words of wisdom on the subject from Screaming Lord Sutch... As one comment on youtube said: Gotta love this song, it's the main reason I don't go digging in the cemetery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bso0I_wZkrs"]YouTube - Screaming Lord Sutch All Black and Hairy
I wouldn't want some random dude digging up my grave...I'd come back from the dead and haunt his ass for the rest of his life
Yep, op would definitely be in for a haunting were he to dig up someone's grave. If you do go though op, watch out for vampires and zombies, and crank this while you're digging. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLXEj4UowF8&feature=related"]YouTube - Misfits- Skulls
If it actually was a cemetery it is protected by law, even if the headstones have been removed. I would not be one to be digging around in it as the dead have the right to expect that their graves are respected and the living have an obligation to keep it that way.
i hope there are a few of you.. i've done (legitimate) gravedigging in the past, and a 6ft hole with a pick and shovel is gonna take longer than you think... buy a metal detector and dig up some treasure dude, it'll be a lot more fun and rewarding :sunny:
You'll probably just find a dead dog or something. I was going to say you were likely going to run into a problem once you get past all the dirt because these days they seal coffins in concrete boxes, but they probably didn't do that in the 1800's, so... *shrug*
We have some cemeteries around here that date back to the mid 1600s and I have no interest in knowing the condition of the decomposed bodies :ack2: Hotwater
Digging up someone's grave is very disrespectful to the living family of the deceased. It's just something you don't do. Many graveyards are monitered these days, either by a watchman or by camera. Besides, I doubt there's anything to see anyways.
