ok so in Biology we are learning about like frogs or something and we are going to be disecting a frog. well i dont think its right. these animals i guess are raised specifically for this, to die. i mean is it right? how do they kill the frogs? i am not sure if i should participate in the disection. i wanna know how you feel about it. I am not grossed out or anything i dont care about touching it haha i just feel really bad for it.
yeah.....i had to disect a fish last year in biology class. I put up a big argument with my biology teacher but he said that if i did not do it, i would fail and to me, failing was not an option. peace, Anjilla
I dont think is fair on the teachers part. ask him if you could do another project related and still get the credit. it work for me a few times in school.
Oh jeeze... dissections.. I've done a frog, rat, cray fish, worm, clam, shark and fetus pig. I don't know how they kill the frogs, but I know they inject them with latex (into the blood vessels) so I'm not sure if that's how they die, or if they do that after the fact. Meh, I've done it so much I'm impartial.
I didn't dissect anything....I refused and they couldn't make me do it...so I took the bad grade instead.
Don't fucking do it IF you find it wrong. If your convictions are strong enough nothiong they will do to you can phase you. If they threaten you bing up publicity.
My Teacher and I got into an argument over disecting a frog. He told me that if I did not do it that he would fail me! - So I went to the principle; who in turn made the teacher give me a diagram of the inside of a frog and I just had to label it's parts. I continue to do that for all of the other things he wanted us to disect.....and I passed!
Yeah, there is actually an interactive computer program for dissections... you should ask if the school has access to it. But the way I look at it, your school has already ordered the animals, if you don't do it, someone else will. Remember that they last forever (well, not forever but a LONG time), so the next person to come along will do it. Not that I'm saying you should ignore how you feel about it, but you should do it for the experience. I hate dissections so I always make my partner do all the cutting. Its amazing how much you learn from them... stuff you could never get from a diagram.
I just did it last week, but instead of disecting, I just did the written part of the assingment. If you just refuse your teacher won't want to give youi points. Just ask for an alternitive, they'll be especially leanient if your vegetarian, or the like.
I don't dissect animals because I feel it expresses deep disrespect for their body, we don't have their consent to do it and it just adds to the corruption that we've created by exerting our granted gift of 'power' over other animals. I'm homeschooling and I recently went in to get my stuff for second semester, and they gave me a brown envelope - i figured it was petri dishes or something, I open it when I get home and lo and behold, its a dead frog and a huge earthworm they expect me to cut up no thanks
Yes if you don't do it someone else probably will, but if you don't, the'll be one more frog for someone else to use and that'll be one more time disecting before they have to order another frog and henceanother frog has to die.
It doesn't stop how many are still being killed at the factory. Because honestly, for every one person who refuses, there are probably 1000 (or more) who are willing.
I wouldn't do it even if I have to fail the subject. No teacher can make me believe or anyone else in this world that animals don't have the same rights as humans!
we disected sheeps eyes, i didnt mind that because it wasnt wasting a whole animal, the eyes would have been left to rot, but if it was a whole animal and i had to kill it i would not do it
She's in high school, they already come dead. I don't think you do live dissections until grad-school.
