Diton's Twist and Rip Dread Thread

So I figured I would start this thread to show the progress of my dreads periodically. I haven't actually done them yet. The main thing stopping me right now is the whole sectioning process. I'll get bored once and a while and start to twist and rip a section of hair, and then have to stop myself because I know I'm not ready to do the whole thing yet. I'm shooting for Friday hopefully if I can get someone to help me do it, otherwise it's gonna be a total pain in the ass. I'm tempted to just do it without sectioning, but I know in the long run I'll probably be happier if I just go ahead and section it.

 

Why don't you leave your hair for a bit and see where it naturally sections, then when ever you feel like it you can twist and rip a dread or 2 and leave it, then do some more when you feel like it. Eventually you'll have your head full of dreads and it will be at a your own pace.

Thats pretty much what I did...
well, "when I feel like it" still managed to be my whole head getting done in a 24 hour period
Can't say how much I'd prefer it to any other method or separating or anything, just it has worked well for me so far (it's only been a week or so)

Ok, I'm starting to dread them now. Just smoked a couple bowls, so I'm good to go. I think I'm gonna rub a hat on my head for a bit to get some sections going, then I'm gonna start twisting and ripping. Possibly some progress pictures soon if I take a break and actually remember to take them.

I'm actually not minding the process too much - kinda enjoying it actually. Although that could be because I'm doing it while I'm high and laying on my bed listening to Infected Mushroom :cheers2:

I would just backcomb it. It is much easier to get better looking dreads when they are backcombed. I guess it is all about a matter of preference.

 

Second break. Here's another picture. Hopefully I'll be done with an hour. Then I just have to figure out what I'm gonna say when my parents get home in 3 hours and see my hair.

Wouldn't make a difference what day I do it. Either way it works out the same, since I'm gonna be done by the time they get home.

 

Not really, just got lucky - everyone but me left a couple hours ago and they won't be back til 7, so I'm taking advantage of the opportunity to get in a good toke.

 

All done. They look ridiculous right now though because they're all sticking out at crazy angles, so I'm gonna put a hat on for a bit and then take a picture and post it.
