I'm going to see him on the 12th of November, pumped up!!!

Here is the song that I heard that made me say I have to see that show:

Did he adopt the DJ title overnight? Last time I checked he was just Pretty Lights. I like his music to an extent - his production is almost there but the songwriting is just stale and repetitive. I'd still go and see him live though.

He is a dj that goes by Pretty Lights. I've heard good things about his shows though. Artists are always trying to outdo their last work, whatever it may be, so hopefully this one will be spectacular.

I saw him in Chicago, he definitely put on a good show. It's cool that all his music is free too

I try to go in anywhere (movies, shows, etc.) with no expectations. If it's the best thing in the world, good deal. If not all that great, at least I didn't get my hopes up.

his live shows are fun to dance around at, but i can't listen to his studio work for more than 30 seconds. Just doesn't have "it"... and I'm pretty sure he producers all (or most) of his music, so he is not a DJ (who mixes other artist's tracks together and makes them different with their own quirks), he is a producer.

nontheless, if you like this kind of glitchy breakbeat scene, Pretty Lights is kind of like the Kenny G of smooth jazz.. he's popular, but just is not very good.

    you should look into these:
    *Comma (carry the fire ep)
*Salva (Jars, various singles are all good)
*Eskmo (just released his self titled album early Oct. Its really good)
*Mimosa (similar to Eskmo. both these guys are on about the same popularity level as Pretty Lights, so most people who know PL, know both Mimosa and Eskmo. They should atleast.)
*Kilowatts (Problem Solving, Routes, are his 2 best albums IMO...)

personally, I feel like Comma is one seriously up and coming producer out of the Bay Area..

If you like Mimosa/Eskmo/Pretty Lights, he is definitely one to check out...

only problem is that he only has one 5 song EP currently released... its called "carry the fire ep", and you can find it on addictech.com as well as his bandcamp page. Its one of the better releases of 2010 imo, and something worth every penny of your money...

Thanks. I just saw the show last night. It was good a bit long I thought. RJD2's show is still the best I've ever seen.

I'll look into those though. I've never heard of them, I just listen to what people recommend and if I like, I like.

    My opinions

Comma; I started to listen to a couple songs, didn't sound like anything was going on.

Salva; Listened to part of one song, two thumbs up

Eskmo; Alright, reminded me of Boards of Canada

    Mimosa; Sweet!

    Kilowatts; Alright.

I only listened to tidbits so I can't really say a whole lot about any of them.

a good place to start with Kilowatts is two albums: 1.) Problem Solving 2.) Routes
another good one is Ground State (i think...the greenish/blue/teal album cover one).

Comma: listen again : ) His EP is so fire. Coyote (the free track) is a good one. comma.bandcamp.com
