I am currently a freshman in college and I don't drink alcohol. I started my journey for natural dreads about a week ago, so we will see what happens. I was just wondering if you guys drink?, in my mind it seems that people with dreads are less likely to drink.

I hate the "People with dreads are..." statements. Anyone can have dreads. Lots of different people have dreads for different reasons. It'd be like saying (on a much larger scale, obviously) that "People who have bangs are more likely to die in car accidents". You just can't make statements like that, since people get bangs for all different kinds of reasons.

Anyway, yes, I drink. I don't think dreads generally determine that much about someone, to be completely honest. It's not a popular opinion around here (as I understand it, most people generally consider dread heads to be hippies), but I completely recognize that you can't really tell anything about someone based on the fact that they have dreads.

You'll probably get skewed results here, though. Since most of the dreadies who are a part of hip forums do consider themselves hippies or have hippie "values".

As far as alcohol I mostly drink bourbon (KY's unofficial state beverage so maybe I'm a little biased in my preference), That being said I don't have dreads, but the question was asked so I answered.

Hell yah, as a freshman in college last year I didn't drink all that much first semester. But as a sophmore now, I'll drink one/two night(s) a weekend.

i rarely drink....if i do, it would just be bourbon/scotch/whiskey. i can't even have beer because i'm gluten intolerant (not that i'm a huge fan of it anyway).

i definitely 420 though, like many others here. oh and i also have dreads :)

I very rarely drink nowadays and when I do I don't get drunk. I'm also in my first year at college, and have locks!

It is true though that you can generalize about people with dreads. Stereotypes exist, they're not made up, people love to put themselves into little boxes and eventually that becomes a label. Sure you can't guess about absolutely everybody based on appearance, but it is true you can guess about trends.

im partial to the odd pint here n there, but im not one of these people who goes out every weekend to get totally fuckered. i do prefer normal drinks tho, ie water & fruit squash.. better for me and my body and my skin etc etc

I drink on occasion. I really hate hangovers AND the taste of alcohol, which is an interesting comment from someone named Maenad, I'm sure.

yea sorry I didn't mean to try to stereotype people with dreads..but honestly when/if I get deads I would happily face the stereotypes people say cuz you shouldnt let it bother you..its either true or not about yourself

You sir, have good taste! Being a fellow kentuckian, I too love the bourbon. There are several distilleries in my hometown. My favorite being woodford reserve. mmmm.. Normal drink is Ancient Ancient Age. It's distilled 3 blocks from my house I'm probably biased there. I have dreads and I love drinking.

Are we not aloud to say some herb...lol. Anyway I have dread and I smoke a lot of kind bud. I will drink occasionally too, maybe once or twice a month, sometime more, sometimes less. It's mostly herb for me but I love a good brew off the tap. mmm.

Try to to stereotype people with dreads...we already have too many. We are all people with unique beliefs which aren't limited by the hair on our head.
