what does everyone do for a living here at UK Hip forums? and do you enjoy or hate your job.? i hate my job, i'm an admin assistant/general scape goat to the seniors..........but im looking elsewhere now, i'm passed the point of no return with the 'people' i work with. personality by passes for all i think.
I'm a university lecturer. There are some great things about my job and some less so. Good things are: I have more autonomy than most people to organise my time, in fact I can work from home quite a lot; I get paid to read and think about things that interest me; my colleagues are mostly interesting and smart people; interacting with students can be stimulating and fun. Bad things: having to teach more and bigger classes every year, due to government pressures and funding shortfalls; having to cope with some students who really should not be at university at all and are just wasting their time and ours; crap management, including academic colleagues who have to take on management roles for which they are neither adequately trained nor personally suitable. On the whole though, it beats working for a living ...
I just work part time as a film extra at the moment. Usually I love it. But my last job had me standing in a loincloth on a freezing cold windy cornish beach in the hail covered head to toe in clay and warpaint. It's safe to say I hated that....
I work 2 or 3 nights a week doing security in a youth hostel.. the other staff are great, but the proportion of drunken idiots you get in is staggering. But, most of the time I just sit there reading and chatting, do my rounds every hour and it's all good,so yeah I quite like my job.
wow, you guys have great jobs by the sound of it. god, mines even more rubbish compared to youse lot now.....wish i never started this.....*sigh*
I'm working at asda to fund uni and travelling It's dead easy, everybody is young and it's pretty good pay for someone my age
nah i dontha te it i pick dvds in a warehouse just stroll round with a trolley putting them in a box its ok, wouldnt wannna do it for a year or more though
that sounds ok though manticore, maybe not long term like u say but for now.....jobs without much stress are the best type of jobs/ its shit when u got people breathing down ur neck for stuff they wanted done a week before they asked u too do it, thats what fucks me off about work. for the piss poor pay im on, i dont need that shit.
Try working in halfords for 5.50 an hour as a ripspeed specialist which basically means having to talk to and fit crappy cheep audio systems into chavs cars. Its mega lame. It was good once but all the good staff are gone cant even have a laugh anymore. Any one wanna get me a new job?
I went to Halfords once with the idea of buying a bike (yeah, bad idea I know). I stood around for 10 minutes and no-one showed the slightest interest in taking my money. So I left.
I juggle for 3.5 an hour from time to time, which is great when you consider I can look and act however I want, and work with realy nice people, having lots of fun.
Spaced, thats such a cool job. what do u do the rest of the time though? and sponge, i will get u a new job, fancy moving to yorkshire and doing mine for me?? u can stay in the cupboard under the stairs rent free and we split the wages.
With my current situation at halfords that is tempting opel. Also roffa never by a bike from halfords unless you know exactly what you want and know how to fix it when the bikehut engineers don't build it right , I'm not saying they are all bad some are good but your lucky if you get one.
I hate my job sometimes, particularly when I get hit or harassed or have chairs thrown at me or shouted at and called every name possible. But some days it's a lovely job!
