do you mind getting stiffed on the tip?

if its a black person, i don't mind cuz i figure we owe them some free service for all the free service they did but otherwise it really bugs me

i give like a quarter at most...i'd rather give the cook the tip.

 

thats awesome you recognize the cook (and in most places you can ask to see the cook and tip them) but servers do deserve to be tipped- if they are good.

 

well yea, servers do need tips too, i wasn't serious when i said i give a quarter...though i have done that before to servers who i hated, but in general, i do tip well, usually around 1-2 dollars

 

sometimes i think a bad tip might be welcome. would you wanna get a great tip from a terrorist? i have united myself with the battle against terrorism and so i choose not to recieve tips from terrorists. i do though think terrorists should not be allowed to walk out on their bill at the restaurants as this in the long run will negatively affect the u.s. economy which is one of the goals of the terrorists. some say that bad tipping terrorists will also negatively affect the economy but i think this is a sacrifice all waiters and bartenders have to make in the war against terrorism.

if we are not going to recieve tips from terrorists, is it fair that we make the soldiers battling terrorism to tip? while i think this in priniple sounds like a great idea, clearly waiters and bartenders as well as the bussers will be bearing too much of the brunt in the war against terrorism so i think the office of homeland security should reimburse hotels, bars and restaurants the soldiers' tips in their efforts to battle the terrorists. and while terrorists too are responsible for many of the walkouts, why not have the soldiers eat and drink for free as well as couldn't the office of homeland security pick up their tab as well as reimburse restaurants for losses from terrorist walkouts?

Service jobs gave me a really dark view of human nature.

I believe that we should give blacks a leg up in society, but a tightwads a tightwad.

From what I've seen, being cheap knows no boundries.

 

what brainiac decided some jobs deserve tips. charge what a meal costs and let management pay the server a decent wage. if it raises the price of food in restaurants, fine. stupid system where workers get screwed

 

I dont get tips at my work. sure I get $1000 quarterly bonus checks, but no tips.


I normally tip 10-15% with 10% being normal decent quality service. But ive been known to tip over 25%. (If a your really cute/hot waitress whos number I'm trying to get)

 

No my friend, you're doing it all wrong. If you've gotta cute waitress, walk out on the bill and wait for her to chase you down. Then before she says anything,say "I knew it." and hand her your number.

When she says you forgot to pay, tell her you just wanted to see her again. Then tip the 25%.

I usually tip about 10%, more if they're really good. I even tip delivery people who get paid to drive to my place unless they're huge jerks (ring the doorbell three times in a row, then stare at my blankly or barge into my house when the weather is perfectly fine outside) In the past three years, only once have I not tipped decently in a restaurant... the waitress only came by to try and push more expensive things on us (dessert, new drinks etc) but left my coffee empty for half an hour, my water empty for twenty minutes, ignored our table when we said excuse me (literally had to get her by the elbow to get her attention).... it was just piss poor service, she was such a bitch
