goes and reads a book :)

I don't mind it in limited doses

I went years without having one, but now I enjoy it on certain nights

my tv is pretty much always on when i'm at home... i'm like a dog that likes the company of the voices...

but i rarely actually sit and watch it, it's more of a background distraction for when i have a momentary pause in whatever it is that i'm actually doing.

i've been through both extremes... when i lived with my parents i was a tv addict off and on, but i also didn't own a tv for one semester early in college, and for about 2 years at the end of college and just after...

people couldn't seem to comprehend that it's possible to survive without one, even though i really didn't miss it at all during that time (i'll admit that i would miss it now if i didn't have it though, at least for a while)

I would watch tv in small doses if i could too,but i know i would be seduced by it,and soon be the same kind of addict i was before i stopped watching.

Yeah, being without tv is seen rather extreme, but i don't understand why this should be so?? I mean there isen't anything extreme in it,like there would be in being religious(for those ideas are extreme, walking corpses, virgin births etc) but people don't get called on that as it being extreme.this was just an example, not a way to turn to the discussion on religion ;-)

I haven't had a TV in years but I do sometimes go to a friend's place to watch some big sporting events/movies.

I personally used to find myself extremely lazy when I owned one. I also am bombarded enough with comercials elsewhere without having to suffer through them at home too.

I'm a freerider and only get the basic channels, as in ABC,NBC,PBS, one other one...I forget what...Anyways, I sometimes watch tv when I go to my mom's house. I don't think I'm a better or worse person for watching it or the lack there of. Sometimes when I hear people bragging that they don't watch tv, as if it makes them a cooler person, I want to slap them up side the head. It's gotten quite trite.

Good point!,i think it used to be called "brainwashing" when the same seductive message was played over and over, but now it's called commercials ;-)

. I don't think I'm a better or worse person for watching it or the lack there of.

In my opinnion, you probably are healthier person for not watching it.Also probably maybe more well behaved and polite, because watching countless hours or rude speak, agressive speak, violence etc.you have to admit,it has to leave some kind of mark, but often people just shrug this off as if they were immune.

well if you're cool, you don't have to brag about it :)

    Anywho,

Just because I don't watch countless hour of tv, doesn't mean I don't watch hours of rude speak, aggresive speak, violence speak, etc! Just saying.... :H There goes my health...

I watch a lot of movies.

But not much TV at all. Such that I don't have cable.

    Basketball, fight sports.

I usually watch Colbert/daily show. So I guess about an hour a day 4 days a week.

No... pretty much gave up on it.
    Love movies, though.
And if there is a show I like, I'll usually just follow it on a website or something.
