Does God hate religion?

A question. If we are Gods children and we have been turning away from Him every chance we get...would it not make sense that He would seek out a plan to win our hearts back? I am a dad now and would do anything for my kid. If she left me I would do anything to win her heart back to me.

Unfortunately religion has distorted who God is. The bible, to me, is a romatic love story of a Father who was so love sick for His family He came down and made a way for us to be with Him again. Religion does not tell us about the Grace that hung on the cross. Religion always tells you that you arenet good enough. DOnt smoke or drink or swear. DOnt listen to this music or that. Dont have sex outside of marriage, or whatever you are told to do or dont do in church.

If i am to believe that I can actually gain Gods acceptance through what I do or dont do then I am suggesting to Him that I am on equal ground and equal to Him. I am not. I needed a way to approach Him and gain access to Him. This is far to great a thing for any mortal man to attain. We have nothing to offer that is worthy of this. This is where Grace comes in. Accept the love i showed for you, accept the fact i love you just the way you are...and thats it. Its Gods choice to love us. That takes anything away from any man who tries to make a name for himself. That is essentially what religion is. Man saying I have God all figured out and I am His equal and because I am His equal I can look down my nose at you. This is why God hates religion.

My natural Dad told me to do or not to do things because he knew what things would bring me harm in the end. God, to me, is no different. The reason I do or dont do things is because i know He knows best. Not because it makes me acceptable to Him.

What would you think if your children abandoned you for another childs father? would that make you sad? That is what we have done, left our gods for worship of anothers.

And even if the OT god was the loving father you mention, wouldnt
it make him said that everyone worships some guy in his name,
and have forgotten about him alone?

Or maybe, just maybe, the OT god is a tyrant who governs his
chosen by threat and death and plague, and has nothing to do
with this Jesus guy. Cause he is far too vain and jealous for that.

Dont get me wrong I think Jesus Christ is a right on dude and only a man with high principals and values ie. Integrity. He has and will keep doing great things by people working in his name. I wish the people of religion the best. But man we are only an evolved form of ape barely out of the stone age.

I dont believe in god but I do believe in mans ability to work through it. I can only hope.

 

ok, god gives us boundaries jsut like ne parent gives us boundaries, u know, telling us wat is right and wat is wrong, its called being raised, God is raising us up, and we have to have some kind of restraint because there is a difference between wat is holy to God and wat isnt, just like ne other religeon, HOWEVER, God, dosnt want us to have a wat we non denominational churches call "a religeous spirit" which is basiclly being too uptight about the little things, if we mess up, he forgives us no big deal, not that we shouldnt try to not mess up, but we arent damned to hell if we do, He dosnt want us to rely on wat other ppl say is right or wrong, concerning his word, he wants us to read it and draw our own conclusion, and listen to him and see wat he tells us, wat is right and wat is wrong, so yes, God hates when his ppl have a religious spirit, a strict, THAT IS BAD!!! attutude, he wants us to listen to him, and hell tell us if its wrong or not, then its our decision to follow that or not!

 

i think it would make Him sad, but He did give us free will, and in the end its our choice if we want to be with Him or not.

but didnt ur parents punish u when u did something wrong>? parents punish because they love u and want u to go the right track and not end up messed up, God is the exact same way, he loves us, there has to be some limit, and order in things, wat ur saying is ridiculous

 

and god dosnt "bind" neone, he gives us the choice to follow him, we dont have to,just like parents, but in the end, we suffer the consaquences

 

Punishment does not give understanding.


Punishment means = Do this and you will receive discomfort.

There is a difference between conditioning through punishment and freely expressing 'right' action.

When you choose to act one way out of love and compassion, that right action is limitless. There is no need for law, because it unfolds naturally with your love.

There is a time and place for everything. As far as punishment for children is concerned . . . I am not a father.

However, as an adult who of course was a child, I can say that

Punishment is no longer necessary for me.

You are not a child anymore. Fully capable are you of acting freely beyond punishment, law and order.
The time comes when we all are mature enough to act without the need for the laws of our parents, because we understand their meaning.

As human beings, the time has come for us to move beyond the conditioning and act out of true love and right action - which we are all capable of doing.

 

yes, thats y hes giving us the choice, instead of forcing us into nething, he dosnt say we have to love him or follow him, he cant make us, but i know he loves me, and i kno he knos wats best for me, and i choose to do wats best for me, and his laws are wat i choose, for i see them as the way, i see them as just and fair, and loving, he does nothing out of anger, or just cause he feels like it, i debate with many christians about hurican katrina, many of them think he cause it, i on the other hand, believe that like us, he set nature free to do wat it wants, he could have stopped it he can stop nethin, but he didnt cause it, nature did, he made us, and let us go, he didnt leave us, hes always there watching over us, and help us when we need it, but he never butts in unless we call upon him, he gives us space

 

So if you had prayed for it, katrina would have gone away?
Or just hit another state where no one was praying.

Maybe Florida prayed harder than Louisiana and Mississippi.

 

i didnt saythat, i said that he didnt cause it, he could have stopped it, but maybe it was for a reason, maybe he just wanted to let nature take its course, but im not God, so , he works in mysterious ways, and i like it

 

of course your god didnt do it, he isnt that powerful. My gods didnt do it either, cause they cant. It was the Earth that did it, our Mother.

Yeah the Earth did it, the same Earth that birthed us all, and in so gave birth to our gods too, yours included.

Im not that accepting of things that are such a factual lie, regardless of who believes it, not that fluffy. I think its fine to disagree, or tell someone that they are wrong, but dont oppress people or treat them unfairy because of their faith. Doesnt mean you cant argue about it if it comes up.
