before anyone goes on about how carbon monoxide kills brain cells, to the extent that the notion of 'killing brain cells' implies, no, marijuana does not kill brain cells.

it does technically destroy brain cells but its less than cigarettes (and do you ever see them associated with killing brain cells?)

that doco tonight had some interesting stuff about this, as in where the blood flow was going to the brain after smoking pot, which I am inferring meant what were the active parts of the brain but I might have understood that wrong so please correct me if you know better, and how these parts of the brain were the same places that someone suffering from psychosis had as active. didn't mean you were psychotic just meant that it disposed you towards it....I figure that is as worth thinking about as actually losing brain cells in the traditional sense of the word.
was interesting, wether it changes my own opnion of pot I don't know but it certainly changed my opinion of some other people's pt use!!
    :)

"killing braincells" should be thought about as "killing stomach cells" when you think about it as ?who is doing the killing? If the higher authority does not consider the consumption supportable, the higher authority will declare it undesirable. If you're able to absorb critical scientific investigation into what a substance does onto your body, read the "Scientific American" 's Dec. 2004 edition article: "The drugs in everybody's brain". b1

and stephany somehere, let me just say that you got that right but it is also more like that when you have a tendency to have like this or that the pot will enhance that tendency or suppress that tendency but it will definitly not create that tendency. And that's why pot is not too scary. it just works with what you already are.b1

well would you say a person with such a disease should be considered sober?

    i dont

    neither is being stoned

theyre both altered states of mind, and there are only so many areas that our brain uses. there would be a psychological diease that is the result of an altered action of certain areas of the brain. and so for every drug, there will most probably be a psychological disease related to it. weeds effects the same parts of the brain that psychosis does.
if a drug didnt have a disease related to that part of the brain, then it would not be considered a gateway to any disease. eg cigarettes. however since weed does have a corresponding psychological disease, its made out that it causes that disease.

weed in someone who is more susceptable to psychological disease leads to psychosis but at the same time, psychosis to someone who is more likely to be a stoner leads to weed.

its not like weed is the key to psychological disease is some 'evil' motive or direction of weed. its just an inherit side affect.

look everyone im really sorry, but i dont know what point i originally had and i dont even remember what this thread is about now or what this post is except that im writing in it and now i will end

    thanks for ending it bill!
Smoking pot does not cause brain function disorders! brain function disorders (of any type) do not lead to smoking pot! thc acts as an activator of certain feedback mechanisms in various brain structures. One of the more prominent ones is the cerebellum. This organ is fully dedicated to the function that is called "motor function" and is outside of the area where disorders such as psychosis occur. Other areas get affected as well, for example the area where the short term memory holds data from moment to moment (so we know where we put down that screwdriver momentarily in order to blow our nose) is completely diabled for a while but recovers without much change. And these are only a few examples. I would encourage all y'all to access science articles written for lay people (so as to avoid excessively technical terminlogy) to really become informed as to what is what. Even sincerely done TV doco's create many misconceptions by being too generalized or dramatizing some aspects more then others and swaying impressions from the balanced! Here's something to help you further if you're interested (and capable): [Everyone interested in knowing how cannabis use affects the brain should read the article in the Dec. 2004 edition of the Scientific American: The drugs inside EVERYONE'S brain]b1

"Smoking pot does not cause brain function disorders! brain function disorders (of any type) do not lead to smoking pot!"

i think thats what i was going to go towards.

but that it does make the other more likely. well its really obscure, i have a concept, i recalled it from when i was writing that post, but now i realise i cant put it into words. i understand why i was having trouble then. lol but now ive forgotten the thread topic again

"weed in someone who is more susceptable to psychological disease leads to psychosis but at the same time, psychosis to someone who is more likely to be a stoner leads to weed." this was meant to be 'by concluding through this method...' by the obsrvation above it

From what I've learned in the past it does kill brain cells, but I've been reading up on recent studies and what not and some say it does and some say it doesn't. I guess it all depends on what research article you read. Different studies on it have different views and outcomes. I'm willing to bet that if it doesn't kill them it does something nasty to them like make them weak or non functional.

100000000000000 other things kill brain cells, but do you hear them exploiting that? NO! I forgot what the actual statistic was, but you lose brain cells on a regular basis, they dont live long as it is. So even if "pot destroyes brain cells".... fine, just add that on to the long list of things that already do

Even if it does think about the size of cells, they are so small you cannot see them, so obviously your brain has about 907809870984750982347509238475093248754 of them.
