A recent poll has shown a 20 point swing away from Obama. Will poll results as close as they are, can he afford to lose this demographic?

"You can put lipstick on a pig....and it's still a pig."

Stab at Palin, or at McCain economic policy?

After Palin's hockeymom/lipstick comment was this a smart move?

Note: McCain made the exact same comment in Oct. 2007

There is no doubt that Obama is losing women voters, specifically white women voters. Is it wise to go after Palin and fuel the fire, possibly losing more women votes?

Im not sure what he was talking about, but the pig comment, I think he would be directing it to Palin, not all the white women of america
nah he still has my vote

Personally, I think the story is getting blown out of proportion. If Palin can't take hits like that, then she shouldn't be in public office. However, it is not the McCain/Palin campaign that is making a big deal out of this. As far as I've heard, McCain or Palin have not personally commented on this.

The media of course has been eating this up, and I think that this likely innocent comment has caused damage to the Obama campaign.

I did not mean to imply that he may be directing it towards all white women, but I think that there are women that will take offense. No different than if McCain were to make a black comment. Sexism and racism are both ism's.

Of course, they're the largest demographic that votes; it'd be nice to have them in your back pocket, going into November. I hope he doesn't get them though.

Yes he does need them, but to take the statistic more accurately, most of that 20 point swing has come from republicans who weren't so sure about McCain, but Palin has sealed the deal for them.

The pig and lipstick comment was a big mistake by his campaign. He was at one time seen as better than that sort of small attack. BIG MISTAKE! Not sure he can recover, almost like Kerry and his comments on Cheney's gay daughter, makes one wonder who's handling these politicians. Maybe they want to lose.

GHW Bush lost his reelection when he told the citizen asking a question to Shut up and sit down. It's little things that stick in voter's minds.

I think that by November, the whole country will be reminded which candidate wants to appoint anti-Choice Supreme Court Justices.

We've seen it plenty of times before. Unfortunately, a slip of the tongue can be more powerful than anything promised or accomplished. Look at Howard Dean. If I'm not mistaken he had it more or less locked up until his Ohio, New York, and back to Washington DC, yeahhh!!!!!!!!!!! speech.

He was directing the pig comment at Mcains economic policies just like MCain was when he used the comment regarding Hillary's health plan.I can see where the repubs can really live with a right -wing fuck like Palin. The american people are so stupid that they'll probably vote for another bunch of repubs with the same disastrous policies of the last 8 years.

Here's my theory on our two parties: the democrats have no balls, the republicans have no brains. Now if we could just combine the two, we might actually be able to fix something.

His campaign consultants must have know it could be taken out of context, if they didn't I wonder what they are being paid for. And if that's the level of advisors he may place in cabinet positions it doesn't speak well for him. He should have kept his powder dry and stayed above the fray.

If he can gather himself together and once again place himself above petty responses, he may have a second chance. Palin isn't doing all that well with her first interview. Her war mongering isn't cutting it.

No they haven't. It incited many women, and women don't forget slams like that. And women vote.

I don't think Palin is taking away any or at least not many of the white women's votes that were going to vote for Obama. Palin's political beliefs are far from Obama's....I think people would have to be really ignorant to vote for Palin simply because she is a woman. It's time for change, and a woman being either president or vice president would be a welcome change...but definitely not Palin....I think the combination of McCain and Palin is just well, plain dangerous. just my 2 cents. :p

No matter how many consultants a candidate has when running against a republican, they can never be sure how their words will be twisted with lies because that's just how republicans operate. They will say and do anything to win. They are shameless. The sad thing is,is that what they do works on the voters.

I agree with biscuits&yarn (Mmm, biscuits and yarn...)

Obama's campaign has been very poor since the end of the primaries. For that reason alone, his opponents are perceivably doing well.
