I go to an online school currently. I set up and Environmentalist club at the school. We send out weekly info about recycling, pollution, etc.

so that is as close as I can get to it with my school atm. And yes, my family does recycle :).

    Love and Peace,

    August/Basil

dont they get pissed its not recyclable? that would make me angry except for the fact that some people actually try to recycle. i know my job doesnt but i dont know what to say...and my school ecology club set up recycable trash cans in every class room, but people treat it like its a regular trash can! and i believe my school jsut throws everything into one big dumpster at the end of the day.

I work at a food co-op and we recycle just about everything...it's pretty amazing, actually.

We still create a lot of trash...but not nearly as much as other places.

Some workplaces will only recycle if the $$ is there for it like machine shops and ect do alot of it but only becuase them metals are $$ lost if just tossed out.

Sadly most recycled goods are more $$ than that fresh raw materail good due to the process involved in recycling.

I really think that can change if only the goverment would back the product to at least make the cost the same as the "new" product until it becomes more main stream to recylce thus forcing the cost down. I assume big business plays a hefty role in keeping that from happening.

i am trying to promote recycling at my school. it is painful, though, in the former oil capital of the world (tulsa, ok) because nobody there is thinking about the environment, when i flinch at every bottle i see thrown into the waste bins instead of the recycle bins.

let's not even try suggesting that people simply use less stuff--that is unthinkable.

my school has recycling bins but it all goes into the same big trash bin and everything. And at work. pah. we throw everything away. So much cardboard could be recycled, as well as plastics from the hangers. Makes me a little miffed actually.

One way to promote recycling is to note that if the prom committee set out bins to collect cans and bottles, they would MAKE MONEY for the prom.

There's an Earth Club program at my school which I have taken a fairly large part in.. there are some prominant downfalls about the club but it is nice to have some form of a recycling program at our school.

But, bleh, people tend to want to spite the hippies by putting their disgusting, gag-inducing garbage in the recycling bins. It's certainly not fun to sort through them.

Well...Ooh, ive got an idea :O

This is where the "dun dun duns" are applicable.

Try to arrange some sort of school-wide assembly on the subject. Now, less than half the students would actual pay attention to it...but...well, there arent any buts. Nevermind.

Youre right though. The reycling bins around my school are very rarely utilized...People DO throw bottles away in them often, but nothing else.
