Has anyone here ever donated their plasma before? I was thinking about it as a way to make some extra money, since my hours at work were cut. I am not sure if it's really worth it, though. It seems like each visit pays around only $30, and you have to wait there for like an hour and a half. People who donate twice weekly (the maximum) can make around $240 per month. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this and what their experiences were.
A couple of friends did. They said it took too long and wasn't worth it. Kinda painful too. It's a pretty crackhead/drug addicted college student thing to do. I wouldn't ever do it, no matter how bad it got.
wha? new york blood center sent me an email begging for my plasma, and all they offered me was a fleece pullover.
That's how my friend makes extra money, and she passed out and puked all over a convenience store the first time. She still goes back...but she's got this self-destructive habit and to get paid for it? Hells yeah! lol She lives on a steady diet of coffee, Diet Coke, crackers, and leftovers from the continental breakfasts at the hotel she works at.
PR: That is not very good for you. Just so you know they make about $450 for your $30 payment. They say it helps other people. The other people being the owner of the Plasma Center.
Yeah, honestly... fuck all this humanitarian aspect of donating plasma (and especially blood)... it's just a way to rip off dumb hippies. I have never donated blood in my life, and I never will. Shit, the mere though of my blood saving the life of some fat useless gringo while putting money into someone's pocket disgusts me.
How is it bad for you? I did the research and could come across nothing that would indicate it's dangerous, aside from infections, which are very rare.
They sell it to hospitals who bill the insurance company about $1,500 or more. It is a good business.
Well... most of the population isn't really that healthy, so the studies will illustrate that it isn't healthy because most of the population will be negatively affected by it. I do realize that I'm kinda stating the obvious though.
