Does anyone remember the Dope Scoreboard that used to be published every week in the L.A. Free Press in the early '70s? For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, the Dope Scoreboard was a page issued by an independent lab that would analyze street drugs that were submitted anonymously with the results printed every week in the Freep. It would list pretty much every drug that was selling on the street about a week after it first turned up and show the name, potency, any additives and a note about any adverse effects that had been reported. It could tell you if that hit of Yellow Sunshine you had was good, bad, weak or strong or let you know if that shit you're thinking of shooting had any garbage mixed in to it. I thought it was a great public service. Is there anything like that in this day and age? Just curious since I'm old and out of touch.
I'm old and out of touch too. Since I was raised in the south I'm not familiar with the Dope Scoreboard. I am aware of the Free Press. In Jackson, MS we had the "Kudzu". It built quite a reputation and was raided by the feds several times. For the non-southerner - Kudzu is a vine imported to prevent erosion. It grows about a foot a day and covers anything it comes in contact with. Those were the days!
