Has anyone heard about washing with baking soda and vinegar? Apparently it helps your dreads a lot but I wanted to know what other people thought about it before I use it.

Oh yeah, I read that.. just wondering about the vinegar though. Is it okay? And does it just clean or also helps tighten?

I've never heard of using vinegar ~ I'd guess you'd probably have a big fizzy mess! (but it might work. )~I use vinegar to clean lots of other things~ just never my hair

yesyesyes you should use apple cider vinegar! not any other vinegar. dillute it 1/1 with water. it rules! leave it in for a while and rinse reaaaaally well, I kinda smelled like vinegar for a while haha!
I was told to not it more often than once a month.

vinegar is a conditioner. The acid in it helps the scales on each hair lay down, making hair smoother and straighter (not exactly what you want when you are making dreads). If you have very hard water, the vinegar will react with the minerals and leave scummy residue behind. If you do not have hard water, this is not an issue for you. What you do is wash with the baking soda, then rinse with a TINY drop of apple cider vinegar in a cupful of water. If your hair appears greasy or oily, dilute the vinegar even further. I prefer to rinse with lemon juice instead, it leaves my hair feeling and looking much cleaner.
