I just had my dreads professionally dyed and my scalp is going nuts its itchy like crazy (no dandruff thank g-d) Has this happened to anyone else and any solutions I'm about to go wash it right now, but a little worried.
drings harzh on hair n scalp, especialy if they didnt wash it really good wash thouroyghly..maybe twice,..and condition
yeah, sounds like they didn't get all the dye out. most people in salons don't have a CLUE about how to handle dreads, and you have to REALLY REALLY REALLY rinse just when washing, so when you do a dye... jesus. i remember when i dyed my undreaded hair all the time, sometimes it took me 20 minutes just to get the dye out. so with dreads, chances are they didn't get it all out. wash wash wash and rinse rinse rinse. and then as long as your dreadies aren't so new they're gonna fall right apart, condition them a little.
Thanks I think she didnt rinse enogh though she seemed to rinse forever! My dreads are 6months old and conditioning doesnt bother them, I'm conditiong right now. So here we go thhanks treehugger and soaring for your imput I was a little concerned
when you color your hair, peroxide is involved. you mix color with peroxide as the reactive agent. depending on the volume weight of it (10, 20, 30, 40) peroxide will hurt your scalp. 40 being the most damaging. so regardless of how long it was rinsed, you are going to itch until your scalp rejuvenates itself naturally with oil. a spray leave in conditioner sprayed right on the roots only should alleviate the itchies.
Thanku 79honda cause my head still itches like crazy i put something called liquid silk on my scalp only and it relived it somewhat. sigh this sucks i just hated haveing 3 color hiar with the majority gray see what vanity will get you lol (sighs again)
when i had my undreaded hair bleached, i had 9% peroxide and then 12% put on my hair/scalp (it hurt), and the lady said to spray it with cool water to try and cool my scalp to stop the itching
