I don't know how long gasoline is going to be the prime fuel used in our vehicles, but hopefully not long A safe, eco-friendly fuel to replace gasoline is atop my wishes for the near future of the planet and humanity - it needs to be a hell of a lot cheaper too
Why not just bike every where you can, weather permiting and however far you have to go. But I really think that that would be a slight replacement, not really a replacement but an alternative. It's at the top of mine too, but it doesn't seem all to likely. But I really hope so.
Why not?? I mean all we need is a reliable source of Dylithium Crystals right? And a Warp speed engine..........
But seriously..... We have the fuel if only we could grow it legally. Hemp. Three to four crops a year of Hemp seeds to refine into Hempoline and Hemp Diesel. Not to mention the myriad other products that can be made from Hemp such as plastics, paint and solvents, paper and building products, rope and clothing. Just to name a few. All we have to do is change the Federal law that says American farmers Can Grow Hemp. America could wean herself from OPEC and become self sufficient once again.
Well Orison it was folks in America with a dream that helped to make this country great. Americans could do it again. After all there's but a few thousand dumb ass politicians standing in the way while there are millions of average Joes and Bettys demanding that the law(s) be changed. After all it was thousands of pissed off Americans yelling for change that worked to end the Viet Nam War. Power to the People. Fuck the dumb ass politicians!!!
Unless the big lier in the white house does something. Its just a dream. Willie will be dead and gone, long before hemp becomes Biomass fuel... Im pretty sure Ill be dead and gone aswell.. By that time it will have been to late. The idea is to use all available options now. Not wait til the oil wells run dry. It takes energy to make energy ...
No matter what fuel source somebody comes up with, somebody else will scream that it's harming the environment in some way.
You can forget about cheap and easy solutions. It's going to get more expensive. The good thing is it will create millions of jobs and eventually boost the global economy when it becomes mainstream.... Hydrogen IS the future for powering all major transportation. Combustion engines can be converted to run on hydrogen. Solar and wind can provide virtually infinite amounts of hydrogen gas generation. We just need to build as many as we need. They're currently using solar to boil water to extract oil, when oil is gone they will be used to generate hydrogen and or AC power.
growing fuel legally...do you think chemistry is related to witchcraft..the bunsen burner could be their sacred flame or something...the test tube their cauldron...the hemp their alchemical rose...how does one grow fuel?
It would be nice if we could use our own breathing air as gas. The car sucks it in pressure builds in some kind of tank and out goes air!
an eco-friendly fuel is a self contradiction. what IS sustainable is the generation of energy and propulsion of transportation, WITHOUT burning ANYTHING. and we HAVE the technology to do precisely that. (the COMBINATION OF wind, solar, micro-hydro, geothermal, tide and wave) good engineering, the best engineering, is that which has the least negative environmental impact, requires the least maintainence, and goes the longest without needing to be replaced. it is NOT that which is the most uselessly impressive, and it is certainly not that which concentrates symbolic value in the fewest possible hands.
Hemp oil for the win! (I wish) Nah, If we were to oscillate between an alternative fuel source and electrical power we could completely wipe out our oil addiction. Obviously we'd need more power plants, and those power plants would need to be run off of something.... I think we should seriously consider using ocean currents, offshore winds and geothermal power to run our fuel needs.
The people in control of the gasoline are just going to keep running our wallets dry until there is no gasoline left, and then switch to another fuel that they've had planned for years Not much we can do about it
Jmb, there is something you can do about it... I mean like you just said in a later post you can beat the system. If you can do it, you're ahead of the game.. if you get too far ahead there are only three options. 1. Try and remain unnoticed 2. The game takes a shit on you from a height you could never imagine. 3. You WIN the game, and become it. Man, solar powered would be good for desert environments, but if you can rig your car to run electricity and have a cheap power source you can run it at roughly 10 cents a gallon!:afro:
Well how 'bout the fact they come from plants and not from hundreds or thousands of feet below ground. Home grown power trumps OPEC power...less freight to move less far equals costs less to make so costs less to buy. Plus we don't have to deal with folks who might be trying to kill us.:sunny:
Our current fuel comes from plants anyway. An earth-friendly fuel is one that doesn't pollute the atmosphere, hemp oil fails on that count.
