Easter Egg Hunt!

We should have a hipforums easter egg hunt. How does it work:

Well somebody plays the Easter bunny and starts posting eggs around the site. We're then told how many have been posted and we have to find as many as we can.

The person who finds the most, wins the Easter Bunny award?

Hah, sounds fun If we know who the easter bunny is we'll just be able to search their posts though, so perhaps would need an administrator to appoint an easter bunny and not tell anyone who it is, or several, or ... I'm getting confused

 

Came here to post that. We'd have to either get Skip to block the search posts for a certain username (though I doubt he could do that), or work on an honour system where Smokey The Bear makes us promise to help prevent forest fires AND not look at the search posts page.

Also, to make it less boring, we'd have to travel OUTSIDE the UK forums!

 

Actually, couldn't we get one of the members with a fairly high post count and get them to edit a dozen of their previous posts to add an egg gif? Then whoever finds it first posts saying "lol i found it "

It might still be searchable using the search function though...and does editing a post bring the thread back to the top of the first page?

Editing a post doesn't bring it up to the top, and as long as you put it at the end of a post, not in the first thirty characters or so, it won't show on the search results. Still need someone to appoint the bunny/ies!

 

How about, the person who finds it then becomes a bunny and hides something in one of their own posts?

How would the scoring work, would we post it as soon as we found any? And once one os found nobody else can claim it?

 

Well, since Sal offered to secretly appoint a bunny, we could make that part of the challenge. The bunny and Sal could work together, with Sal being given the URLs of all the posts where the eggs are. Everybody playing would then have to find the identity of the bunny first, probably PMing Sal or the bunny once they'd found them. If finding the bunny in the first place is too difficult, maybe it could be a first part to a two-part game? First person to find out who the bunny is wins the first part, then the bunny's identity is revealed to everyone and the egg hunt itself begins?

As for the hunt itself...if we went with the first option, people would have to PM Sal or the bunny after each egg they found, including the URL of the post. This would be good because the PM's time would show who got to it first. Then people can still claim it, but take a lower score for it since it was already found?

It'd probably be best to score publicly, with each person reporting the found egg in a thread which everyone can view. That way only one person can find each egg....
