so my job is transfering me to edmonton. Ill be working lots, but I want to meet some kids out there show me the scean....is there one? or are my fears of rednecks chasing hippies all to real?
i work out of high level in the winter time ,north of edmonton ..wouldn't be surprised by anything there because all we hear when we put on the news is yet another murder in edmonton
fuck...... I was just talking with linz today about how we didnt here anything really negative about edmonton.. can you recomend a good place too parka couple of buses? I put and add out on craigs list looking to rent a small piece of land close to the city, the head office is off of 18th.....not sure st or ave...but 18 none the less.... where should we NOT go?
i'm not familiar with edmonton ..maybe some of our members are ...i drive out west but go around the city to get to where i work ..about an 8 hour drive north of edmonton ..i only go up for the winter ..the rest of the yeari stay where it is nice ,peaceful and hassle free.the east coast
8 hrs north eh? fuckin hell, that is north, you must be bordering close to the yukon/nwt about there years ago I hitched from ontario to dawsons creek in febuary...not a good idea thats as far north as Ive been
i'm about an hour and a half from the northwest territories border ........6 1/2 hour drive to yellowknife
i enjoyed being in edmonton... any town is what you make it. north edmonton was a bit rough like over by rexal place, but other than that it was sweet.. i was only there in the summer though. I wouldnt say there are any places you shouldnt go, its nice to explore and figure it all out yourself with an open mind There is a sweet veggie resturant on 82 ave or whyte ave, called mosaics i believe. whyte ave is a cool place
There's a reasonable campground in Whitemud Creek in the southwest. I don't know if they have a problem with buses or not. Only place you want to stay out of is called the Drag, centered on 97 Street just east of downtown. Old Strathcona (founded 1892), which centers on Whyte Avenue and extends from about 99 St to about 109 St, is a good cultural centre but the paper says it can be rough late at night. An annual Fringe Festival happens there each summer but it's probably over with for this year, by now. Downtown Edmonton has no attraction unless you like crowds, traffic and office towers. The many park trails in the river valley serve to make Edmonton habitable at all.
I live In edmonton, and aside from the university campus, and the river valley, the city is and industrial wasteland. but good friends can make a bad city bearable. whyte ave gets a bit rough, but if your not looking for trouble, you dont really ever find it. cafe mosiac, on whyte is a great veggie restraunt as well. I live here and sort of know this city, and itis ok, but winter may be another story... shalom
