Who does not believe that this is influencing our future heavily? I am often asked or confronted about this topic. People that are always 20+ years older than me often ask if im going back to college since i guess its the only subject they can come up with, its very annoying to say the least. Countries with the same language have different systems, different grades are given, even how long school takes is different.

How is it possible, that one county has "better" students than another? Does that depend on the education system? Or how the country is run? Funding? Advertising? Does it only come down to money? What can improve education?

I think the main reason one country has better students than another, is the attitude of the students themselves. An education system could have all the funding in the world, but if the students take a half-assed approach to education, than the system can't be blamed.

Exactly why I haven't wasted my money or time going to school. I have a job and I'm about to be making what some college graduates only wish they could make. Nothing extravagant by any means, but while everyone else was spending their 4 years studying and pouring money into the education system, I was working, making my own money, and getting promotions. I know many many kids who just recently graduated college and they work making less money than me at jobs similar to mine. It almost seems as though college is a lot of time and money and energy for a shot at winning the lottery.

depends the work. There are many jobs. But here is an example. My wife 50 goes back to school. spends 1.5 yrs training for medical coding. She gets a job with UPMC< the medical monster that took over the Pittsburgh pa Steel industry. Anyway, What happens after 2 yrs working for upmc?. She got laid off, collected UE. Now thats run out. She has no money, she slipping into depression, shes angry, might have to sell her car. Wtf kinda shit is this?.. a TRAP thats what it was.. she has applied to 100's of jobs for the same thing they say shes has no experience ? WHAT!!!

How could she have no experience working for the giant UPMC ?

Education needs to be socialized so that everyone can reach the level of which they are capable and desirous. But that wouldn't suit the "needs" of those that are causing the present system to fall to ruin. It is,I believe, a well thought out plan to preclude citizens from critical thinking. Might see behind the "curtain".

i hear you Kinky. I have a friend that works mcdonalds. Everyone kept on her. Get a better job. She obviously knew what she wanted to do. because shes the manager of the mcdonalds in green tree, and that is maybe the busiest Mcds around other than the downtown area. She has 2 nice cars and all the time people thought she was stupid....

not something that happened over night, but neither does school..

not that I like mcds, but many someones eat there..

In my opinion education is primarily important for the individual development. Of course you have to find the balance between "money" and "personality", that's beyond all question. My life-goal for myself is to be happy with what I'm doing and that I do this stuff well. In order to reach this aim, there's no other possibility than going to university. Plus that raises my income. I'm not saying that this is the only way for everybody, but for myself I'm pretty sure that I'm doing the right thing.

I'm absolutely determined to become a teacher, so I have years of studying ahead of me. If I can't find work in this country, maybe we'll move abroad. I will need to get a job part time somewhere soon to fund my studies, so lots of work ahead, but it'll be worth it for the self-development. The cost of education in this country is completely insane. Next year it'll be 3 times higher.
