Hey I was curious if anyone has any personal experiences with these two. I just kicked a 5 month oxycontin addiction and have started taking effexor to get rid of the depression it caused. I haven't done oxy's in more than a week, and I quit drinking and smoking weed as well in order for the medication to start working.

However at the end of this month I'm going camping and I would really enjoy bringing some oxy's with me. I understand effexor is an SNRI and should not be mixed with alcohol but I don't know if the same applies with opiates.

I've done a bit of searching and all I found were experiences and reports that contradict one another. For example I read that effexor is used in the treatment of opiate depression, but yet in another I read that the two combined can cause serotonin syndrome.

If anyone has any personal experiences with the two (or even another anti-deppresssant/opiate interaction) please let me know.

I don't think its dangerous. Whether or not it is in your best interest to do it or not is another question.
