hey guys. i have a 30 gallon rubbermaid on top of another for veggin. i have 5 females in there. they are now seedlings. im going to get some CFLS this weekend. I was wandering two things: would it be better to have 4 or 5 100 watt CFLS in there? i heard u should have 100 watts for every plant, but not sure...any suggestions on thats?

also, here is the important one, im going to buy from lowes on of those little boards that has about 3 electric sockets in it (dont know the name but have seen them on these forums before) and then im going to use those little Y attachments that hold 2 more sockets. so that will give me 6 sockets. is it ok, for safety, to have 4 one-hundred watts CFLS on this socket? i mean i have seen it done before but i donnt know if there were any modifications made to the electric system. i would really rather not have to modify anything, but i dont wanna fire or blow a socket either. i will def. keep the lights off in my room as much as possible and try to use as little elec. as possible, but does it sound ok to use 4 one-hndred watt CFLS on one of those little socket-boards? thanks alot guys i just want to be safe.

i'd suggest that you buy one of the 6 outlet adapters that plugs directly into the wall socket. you'll have to remove the wall sockets cover plate in order to plug the adapter in to it but this is a much better way to get power to your CFLs even if you run extension cords to the lights. if you do happen to use extension cords, buy a long one, cut it to the lengths you need, and of course put on the appropriate ends. you'll save a bit of money this way and save power since long runs of wire lose electricity.
