Elephant is a movie that hbo made about a school shooting that takes place in a small town in oregon. It was filmed on a low budget but was very powerful. The cinematography was excellent. In the movie it shows several students' point of view, as well as the shooters. It is loosely based on the shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. If you are easily disturbed i deeply suggest you do not watch this film.
Great film a few things though. one of the few things i didn't understand was the time frame--i know it is supposed to take place in one day, and has a concurrent plot lne/chronology...but was it only me, or was alex writing his "plan" when the 3 girls [can't remember thir names" were in the cafiteria--but that is when alex and eric both enter the schol when joh is outside with the dog..so obviously it takes place in more than one day--i didn't follow that but yeah, great film--wrote a short paper on its narrative for my university english class
Well it was obviously premeditated. If you mean how he was sayin what they were gonna do, that was before they left that one kid's house.
excellent movie, it is so intense. I loved it. The only thing I didn't understand was the symbolism with the shots of the sky, and clouds moving..
Long, boring, shot so horribly that the shaking of the camcorder they were taping with wrecked the ending, not to mention the rest of the movie. I was too busy getting dizzy from the crappy camerawork, that the sadistic effect at the end was basically lost.
no, right after alex cleans himself up, he is in the cafiteria, but they are also entering the school when everyone is in the cafiteria-- i don't think it take splace in two days, i think it is sort of a "what if" scenerio Femministhippie-it isnt that long, 80 min..probobly just seemed that way i think the long sky shot in the middle is a transition into like sort of a fantasy sequence-or possibly what really happened
