i can't stand this lately! everytime i go to the grocery store i have to see those star magazines plastered with pictures of female celebs that look like walking skeletons!!! how can people think this looks GOOD or NORMAL? its definitely not healthy. it really makes me wonder what has happened to the ideal of the female body in our society? what happened to beautiful curves, breasts, and a nice round bum? i really dont like this waif trend going on right now. im scared for all the young girls who are in that really vulnerable time in their life right now.. my cousin was always a bigger girl, really tall too, and lately she lost a TON of weight in like 2 months. my grandma and my mom said she hasnt really been eating, either. stuff like this makes me so sad. lindsay lohan before: WHERE DID HER BOOBS GO??? After (w/ nicole ritchie): Another one of them.... ahhhh.. *shudder* http://www.thesuperficial.com/image.php?path=/archives/ll43.jpg
i guess sex appeal is a world away from fashion ideals. maybe its because so many women are beautiful and sexy but not so many are emaciated skeletons. they need to be above the average woman i guess, and the average women does not look like that.
LOL! I was just thinking the same things. As my dh says when he sees womyn like this (or a picure of Moby) "What she needs is a triple cheeseburger and fries, and to not throw it up after!" (He's kidding, but it's funny when he says it.)
Not only is the notion that, "deathly thin equals beautiful", spread to teenagers, through various publications and television programs, but elementary children are being exposed to this irrational view as well. I recall watching an interview (either Dateline or Sixty Minutes) five years ago where children were being questioned about weight in relation to attractiveness. Nearly every single one of them stated that they would rather lose a limb than be, "fat". Society, as a whole, will never change it's views on body image. As parents/loved ones, it is our responsibility to teach our young ones that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
Well, you have to understand, amputation fetish is in, being fat is not. Personally, I think we need a good dose of Fritz the Cat movies to get people to appreciate girls that bounce when they move.
Lindsay Lohan looked beautiful in the first picture, but in the second and third, yikes, she looks absolutely hideous. She is obviously either suffering from an eating disorder, strung out on drugs, or both. I've had problems with eating disorders most of my life, but even I can say with my warped mind that looking at the second and third picture, the way she appears in those is very unhealthy and very unflattering.
i hope they dont fall and break their bones... That is way too thin.. I know people cant help being really thin, but that is just a shame that they chose to be that skinny when they looked really good before.. But I agree with whoever said drugs could be playing a factor as well..
I can't believe what Richie looks like now. I thought she was cute when I first saw her on the simple life (even though I hated that show), but she looks terrible in that picture. She looks sickly, or like they just dug her out of a coffin or something. I hate this new emaciated fad that's going on, just about all of popular hollywood women are falling into it. Since they have chosen a career path that makes them popular public figures, these women have an obligation to be better role models for society than this.
Nichole looks like that from heroin and cocaine. I wouldn't be surprised if Lindsey was getting into something similar as well. Quite sad.
yes it is sad.. but i dont feel bad for people who get into heavy drugs because it was their choice to begin with ya know...
What was it Irvine Welsh said - heroin gives a girl better looks for a very short time, and then takes it all back, with a lot of interest.
Well, to be fair, the media won't give anyone a break. If someone gains a few pounds, they're all over them for getting fat. If they lose a few, they must be anorexic. Truth be told, Lindsay doesn't look all that bad to me. Nicole, on the other hand, definitely lost too much weight too fast. And please, let's stop this "real women have curves" crap. Real women come in ALL shapes and sizes. We need to encourage women to love their bodies regardless of whether they're short or tall, skinny or curvy, fat or thin.
Don't forget that the first pic was a photo shoot.....professional hair, make up , lighting......air brushing Celebs always look like crap in candids....think "National Enquirer" quality..... But, I know, I never buy mags anymore, and looking through them at the bookstore is always a shocker....bone-bags with swollen-looking elbows and shoulders.
