I know people who love him but the most cohesive argument for his popularity i've heard is "he wears a lot of hats"... What's his appeal?
I could see what people liked about him. Now he is just a parody of himself and his song suck ass. I guess some people just like him trashing other celebrities. Go figure.
He is just a good artist, his touchy songs ya know like stan and mockingbird and all, the others kinda are iffyy still have all his cds tho =)
like crack a bottle.. iunno so much that other one with all the celebrity is stupid ut oh well video was neat he will catch up and make a true hit soon i hope.
To be fair...I have only heard a few of his new tracks. When he first came out he made these annoying kinda tracks...but then you hear the superior tracks he can make. His current output doesn't inspire me to buy his album though. I think he should have stayed in retirement.
His new album is unbelievable. Honestly. His new stammer and slide style is incredible, and he's learned how to utilize accents for certain lines or even partial lines for effect. We Made You and Crack A Bottle are they typical radio cuts that are to be expected for marketing. My mom offers the usual "I blame shit on my mom" with a few pot shots. The rest.... is great. Hello, Deja Vu, Stay Wide Awake, Same ol' Song and Dance, Beautiful, etc. The CD has virtually no features except Dre on two songs and 50 on one of the songs w/ Dre. He talks a lot about his pill addiction and takes a lot of shots at himself. The entire CD is a good listen through and through though some tracks are much better than others. The CD is a banger btw, so if you have an apt, turn the bass down a bit. haha
Ok...I'll take a look. I don't desire to diss him...but his output seemed like a joke. I stand corrected.
Perhaps i should buy it, I havent been much into media lately... didnt realize it was even out. iguess i should listen to some more see what happens
he just seems to me to be like someone people would like when they are in their early teens and don't really have any other experience with hip hop. i did used to like him when i was younger but it was more pubescent fascination with someone saying taboo things, i forgot about him after i heard del tha funkee homosapien, Mf doom (or just doom now, whatever, Mf was cooler) and kool kieth.
i disagree.. i hate when music is put into age groups, the lyrics, the beat, all good. i still stick to reggaeton
The thing about Eminem is that he shows you his soul. Some of us can relate to a point that others cannot understand. I have also kind of outgrown the obvious raunchy taboo lyrics, but cannot ignore his overall ability to rap or to reach out to his audience. My sig, as a matter of fact, is the chorus to one of the better songs on the CD. Not typical "ass showing", IMO.
Eminem has lost his edge, the lyrical ability on the new album is often pretty good, but he's just lost the edge in both lyrics and beats that he had on his first 3 albums that made him what he was, and I say this as someone who fuckin loves Eminem, at least the for those first 3 albums
Eminem only did ONE beat on the album ONE. Dre did the rest, and they ALL bang. You better upgrade your stereo, pal. As far as lyrics go, it's the same shock and awe campaign. "Nick Cannon, I wish you luck with the fuckin' whore(Mariah)"...."Lysney, please come back to seein men. She's a two, you're practically a ten." But then you get to some of the more original songs and realize the content is there, as usual, mixed among radio shite. "He's tapin' me he's biting me he's laughing likes it's funny She's scrapin' me she's fightin' me she's scratching like some dumb freak" Lyrically, this CD is incredible. Those aren't even close to the only lines where he tears up a whole line like that. He does that shit all over the CD. If you want to hear somebody rap in a manner that's completely different from what's on the radio and want some beats that deafen the guy in the car next to you, Relapse is it...
hey I said his lyrics were generally pretty good on the new album, but they've lost the "edge" he use to have, Eminem use to have this sound that was awesome/hilarious/serious all at the same time. The songs as a whole just don't have that something new and exciting feeling to them anymore. I don't care if Dre made the all the beats, yes Dre is generally awesome in the studio and has an amazing ear for finding talent, but he sometimes doesn't do so good, the 90's are filled with examples.
The shock and awe lyrics have lost their edge to folks our age because we've heard it. 15 year olds are hearing We Made You like some of us heard My Name Is..... For those of us who have outgrown that stuff there's still plenty to be heard from him. It's called growing up. Granted I have a few years on you, but I'm sure you can understand what I'm saying. The 90's aren't FILLED with examples of bad Dre beats. Most like bad Dre raps, and more specifically, Dre Day, is full of awful shite. You'd be hard pressed to find anybody that can tell me Chronic 2001 wasn't sick as hell. Every tupac beat he laid is damn near considered classic, and Snoop never was as good as he was on Death Row with Dre until he released Rhythm and Gangster, how many years later? Find me just 5 examples of bad Dre beats that ARE NOT from Dre Day......and I'll concede.
Well the 90's are FILLED with examples of bad Dre songs, but it gives examples of the fact Dre is not infallible in the studio, Dre's work on the Firm's album, or his tracks on Dr Dre presents the aftermath aren't all too great. And it's not growing up, I've been listening to Eminem since 7th grade and he's been one of my favorite musicians since then, and I think his first 3 albums(well 4 if you count the original Infinite) were amazing, and Encore was pretty decent, and Relapse is pretty good too, but he's lost that original spark for now. Not like he's the first, Bob Dylan is king and he lost his spark for near 20 years after Desire. He made good albums, but they weren't Bob Dylan albums, like Relapse is good, but it just doesn't live up to what I'd expect from an Eminem album, but to be fair Eminem has one of the highest bars to match in music right now
He may be popular but that doesn't make him good- I cannot respect a man who sings songs about harm to his wife and calls an ex-girlfriend a whore.
It's just rap man, it's a joke. And Kim was one of the highly praised songs on the marshall matthers LP
the problem with eminem is his apparent need to be in the limelight all the time, so he';s going through the motions, releasing the same kinds of singles. Some of the tracks on his new album are great, but the singles have all been shit. the bonus track "my darling" in particular is awesome. can't wait to see what relapse 2 will be like. i hope it's better than the first one.
