Didn't think the writers forum would suit this thread... So i'm a writer and i've been writing on and off on a story I have some what developed now and its coming along nicely, with some occasional writers block's and such but very few to say in its entirety. What I really want to say was over the last couple of months I have been realizing (or shall I say I've known this all along but the weed is frying my head) is English and writing in general can make you seem like such a sophisticated person in so many different things and subjects besides just writing a book. Its like... well I can't seem to find any good examples in my fried brain as of right now but does anyone agree with me? I don't want to look like some pot head so steer me straight if im veered... maybe im just too baked
To be eloquent is the best tool one can have for getting respect. Wish I was eloquent off of screen and paper =P
Ya know, I'd love to pursue this a bit more but I kinda think you might be onto something with that overcooked idea. If you're saying that the use of the language and the pursuit of writing gives you a sense of being in good command of your intellectual skills I agree. Writing is deeply satisfying for me especially when it seems to come together well. Enjoy yourself at what you're doing, sometimes its fun just to be one's self.
That is true too. The same goes for intelligence, neatness, a well-built physique, etc., etc. though. They can all be legitimate signs of arrogance as well. Dennis Miller comes to mind, but that could be a bit ironic, seeing that I don't truly know him.
My content is a always a load of crap. However, good English makes sense in my book. (Not that I have a book)
I guess what i was trying to say is that math and science and history are all very important but if your trying to present your self with smart etiquette then you can manipulate English eloquence to your advantage... I feel like you can probably become someone at something with this thought processbesides the basic writer
You certainly do get a lot more respect when you speak well and show that you have good english. The flip side of this is that a person's character shouldn't only be judged on their words, just as it shouldn't be judged only on their appearance.
I fucking hate that! I'll be thinking about something someone said online and come up with a perfect response, sit down in front of my keyboard and the only thing that comes out is: HERP, DERP!
