environmentalist groups

I joined a new environmental group today…called PennEnvironment I cant wait to start campaigning

are any on you guys members/volunteers for any environmentalist groups?...if so which ones?

 

How dare you make a serious post in random thoughts. i bet you expect it to get a good reply too, but it won't (I only put this here cause now someone will post to make me wrong)

give me one good reason why I should be an environmentalist.

 

ok heres 1 reason

because we get our food from the earth... if we dont keep the earth clean and open then we will have poor food sources in the future

oh and... and we all will die a horrible painful death if we dont all become environmentalists

 

you have given 2 reasons.

Because we get our food from the earth and we have to feed the future is not a good reason. There has to be more behind your duty to future generations. As it stands now the earth can provide for every living person. We all can live on what is being produced now.

If you want to argue for future generations, than saying we ‘have to’ provide for them is no good. It would be like me saying we ‘have to’ all buy a gun now because aliens are coming to earth tomorrow.

And we will not all die a horrible painful death if we don’t become environmentalists.

 

i already bought my gun for the aliens ...when will you?


anyway there are many reasons...but u only asked for 1 so i only gave u 1...weahter u liked it or not it is still a reason...

do some reasearch and find out how saving the earth is a good thing
they would not call it "saving" the earth if we wernt doing somthing right

 

I have done much research. I have come to the conclusion that no one on the earth can sustain the current world population until death without straining.

But you say that we have to save the environment for the future.

You see, saving it for the future is one thing. For we now, the people that are already people (and not potential people) can trash the world all they want and still live comfortably.

So, again, I ask why I should save the environment?

 

if u cared about anyone besides ur self than u would understand that saving the earth for the futuer is a valid cause


also u will be harmed if the ground warer around your local area is poluted by man or even by the earth(mercury in the water)

 

well here is the thing ... I DON’T CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE (please tell me why I should). I am alive here and now. Please give an argument (and a valid argument, not just "you should because it is a valid cause" because that is bullshit and might just make me puke) as to why the future generations have rights. But going a little further, please make the argument that future generations have rights when the environment is at risk, but those same rights are taken away when a woman who wants to have an abortion is considered.

Yes that is true. But this happens many, many times in the course of a generation and more people aren’t harmed than are harmed.

How do you explain that?

because there has already been an efort to deplete the polution in the waters...but that is not enough we need to take it futher so less and less people are being harmed by this
especilly by mercury because in a large enough dose it is deadly

 

I'll tell you why you should care about the future, OSF.... cause it's kinda selfish not to. I mean, do you plan on having kids? Do your sisters or brothers have them or plan on having them?

Well, those kids might so kids and so on and so forth....

It's kinda selfish to think only of yourself and the here and now....

 

am i naive because i belive that people in the future should have a better cleaner and safer life than i have had?

am i naive because i belive that future generations should have open feilds to play in...and have open feilds for animals to roam in?

 

But if nature is polluting the water ‘naturally’ shouldn’t we accept that poison? And if we didn’t than wouldn’t we be anti-environment for trying to stop something that mother earth does naturally?

Does it matter if mother earth poisons us ...

or we poison us or we poison mother earth?

I understand if we want to save the earth, but you said it yourself ... the earth poisons us sometimes.

the earth has always not compleatly been safe for us...that is y a part of saving the enviorment is saving ourselves...by filtering the water we make it better for us...that is one of the reasons that people are continuing to live longer fuller lives

Thanks for the input. I have to say that I have considered that surface opinion before and have come to the conclusion that it is nothing more than exactly that; a surface opinion.

I do plan to have kids. My siblings do also plan to have kids.

It may be selfish to think of me in the here and now but hear me out.

I think that how I act in each situation should be the way I wish everyone would act in every circumstance. I act according to a maxim which I would will be a universal law.

I have arrived at the opinion that ‘the future’ does not have rights and should not be protected because of my opinion on abortion. I think a woman should have the choice to do with her body what she wills. And if that means terminating the potential life inside of her than so be it. Her comfort should be weighed ahead of her future child’s life.

As my maxim on life has it, because future generations have no rights in one circumstance, they shouldn’t in another.

Therefore fuck the future, right?
