If there is equality, there is no power. The most primal urge of any living thing is power. an equal society therefor could not function unless it is not longer a living thing

no but people seek for equality. they shouldnt seek equality because euqality cannot happen. instead, they should seek benign use of power

Right. To cultivate, harness that power. The ocean's might and the flower's delicacy. They are not equal, but neither are they imbalanced.

Equality is NOT a question of lack of power.

It is a question of BALANCE of power.

Equality is a very real concept. It is never perfect, because powers change. But since when is ANYTHING ever perfect?

Equality, or even approximate equality, is present all around the world today. That does not mean it is present between ALL things, but it is present between some, perhaps even many. It is only balance of power, not size or scope of power. Each of us can be very powerful, and yet still only be as equal in power as the next person.

And this presence of equality, this presence of balance, is ever-increasing.

To say that simply because a society is stable and each person has an equal amount of power, that such a society cannot function, is nonsense.

It's kind of like saying, an entire field of trees that have been cloned and are all equal in size and shape, is not capable of blocking the wind even the slightest. The conclusion just does not follow from the premises.

The most primal urge of any living man is power.

Get rid of them, problem solved.

Primal urges of man cannot be removed.

The second you remove them, you are no longer dealing with a man.

Either way, we have no way of removing those urges right now anyway, and we won't for a while.

equality is just accepting reality, for we are all one consciousness, thus you describe any part of it, it is all equal to any other part... it's all love.

But because we choose to have parts get lost in all sorts of things, it does not behave in the way that equaliy shine through. Yet this is what I and YOU, We as ONE, want for OURSELF. To experience dualities

pleasure is a primal urge, but we control ourselves. cant it be the same for power?

i dissagree with you hikaru. the only way humans could have equal power would be if they each had power over exactly equal portions of space and resource in the universe. since we do not have power over the weather, there is no way of controlling the value of each persons portion to be equal and so immediately certain people have to, simply be the world we live in and will ever live in, end up with more or less ability to influence himself and his surroundings, and this is power.

power is relative. if everyone has equal power... then how can anyone influence eachother? they cant, thus they have no power. (thats why i chose to portion the rest of the universe in the model above)

If everyone has equal power, the only way to get something done is to not oppose eachother.

you cant have a team if there is equal power because who decides which member of the team does what? no one would be able to tell anyone do do anything and so the only way things would happen would be if everyone had exactly the same desires/fears. ie, if we all were the same person.

as long as basic human rights are maintained, then power must be allowed to flow, otherwise there is conflict. therefor the bestthing would be for communism whereby power is held by a computer system

  14. I dont get this.

It makes more sense to say that the most primal urge for a living thing is to fight for survival. Survival can often entail the relinquishing of one's urges to fight for power in the aim that individuals can benefit from each other.

Of course no equal society can ever be achieved, but this is attributed to a miriad of factors and urges, not simply our "desire for power", which I agree with others here in saying that is simply an illusion, or something we can learn to control. An equal society cannot exist simply because of the chaotic nature of the universe...the only equal society would be a non-existent one.

Its interesting to look at this simply in terms of people having power over each other...but for every person that influences another, there are an infinite number of things influencing them, its not so black and white.

    What about Wo'man' ?

Who wants to 'deal with man' anymore ?

    they made us all synthetic.

We should be able to cut their nuts out.

The present state of humanity is clearly, and in my view criminally, inequitable. This is entrenched so deeply that the prospect of a fundamental shift away from the power/control/ego mindset to one of unconditional love and humility does not look promising. Nonetheless, it is conceivable. If those in power truly accepted that they were no better than the most impoverished, powerless person on earth, then I see a chance. I feel no better, nor worse, than anyone. It would not be hard for me to accept total equality amongst all of us. I have a primal compulsion driving me towards this goal. It is instinct. Maybe that is cuz I have listened to one too many Bob Dylan tunes.
Granted, leaders will always be needed. But, if those leaders sincerely feel equal to all of us, they will be.

life IS power. we are alive and thus, we are dominated by our own power. we only control our urges because we know a power higher than us can punish us if we try and use more power than we have.

this is only because such a sense is required for harmonious living. people need empathy in order to understand eachother. sociopaths often are very successful in the world, but do not have actual relationships. they do not have a sense of right and wrong, but a sense of what they can do to maintain power. sociopaths however can only thrive in groups of empathetic people, and do not mix well with other sociopaths, because theyre simply playing eachother's tricks.

without empathy, all moral codes would be obliged and thus would crumble. you only have a sense of right and wrong because without it we would all die. instead of lots of us dying like normally.
